Hey, I got ahold of some Cambodian mushrooms. My g/f has a supposed mushroom allergy. I've done a lot of research on it. She used to eat mushrooms and they didn't bug her, but then she had an experience with some mushroom casserole at her boarding school and it caused her to start itching badly and her throat swelled up and she couldn't breathe. She hasn't tried to eat mushrooms since then except for hallucinogenic kind. And with those, she just ate a little bit and used an inhaler and she was fine. So the question is... Would it be safe for her to eat hallucinogenic mushrooms? I'm kind of worried about it, and want to know any information I can about shroom allergies and trying to figure out what hers fully is (Whether it's a shroom allergy in general, certain kinds she's allergic to, or maybe was allergic to something else inside that casserole). Anyway, help?
I don't know about allergies to psilocybin mushrooms, but to be on the safe side maybe you should make tea from your shrooms.
i'd be afraid. assuming the allergy was to mushrooms themselves and not something else in the dish she ate, it may well be an allergy to a specific kind of mushroom or something in mushrooms in general which may be shared between magic mushrooms and culinary mushrooms. i think she may do alright with tea, maybe not. she may do alright even eating them. but i think it would be good for her to go to an allergist to get checked out to see about allergies. if she really does have such a severe mushroom allergy, she shouldn't risk even drinking mushroom tea.
Well, yeah, I'm quite worried too. Way more worried about it than she is. But she said she's done shrooms before and just used an inhaler and was alright. But she only ate like a couple grams at a time. I'm growing Cambodian mushrooms myself, so I KNOW they are gonna be extremely potent. More potent than shit on the streets. But I don't know... How would I find an allergist for her to see?
first of all, if she had a severe reaction to the mushroom dish then her allergy is to something in the CULINARY mushrooms, which may or may not be shared with cubensis mushrooms. if this is the case, then the potency of your mushrooms doesnt mean shit, because the psilocin and psilocybin are NOT what she had an allergic reaction to. further, i don't know you or how you are growing your mushrooms. but i've had around 50-60 mushroom trips (estimated, never kept track past 10) and all but 4 or 5 of them have been from homegrown. those four or five that i bought on the black market rather than growing myself varied significantly in potency, but the mushrooms i grew were pretty predictable, regardless of "strain." i can tell you that if you're using the PF Tek or a relatively simple version of it, you can be happy with what you've got (i always was) but homegrown does NOT necessarily equate to stronger mushrooms. if you're growing with pasteurized manure, or some other better technique, perhaps your claim is justified. like i said, i don't know... regardless, the potency of your mushrooms is totally irrelevant to her allergy, if it is in fact a mushroom allergy. if anything, your super-mushrooms would require her eating LESS
Well, that's what she was thinking, that the allergy is only to culinary mushrooms and not to these kind. Cause she's been fine with ones she's bought on the streets. Just uses an inhaler. She doesn't get itchy and stuff either, just slight breathing problems. Very slight, she says. With culinary mushrooms, she does get itchy and can't breath at all. And with how powerful my shrooms are, I'm figuring she won't need much at all. And yes, I don't exactly grow them the easy way lol. I have a pretty secure environment. I prefer the brown rice and vermiculite method when I'm growing for myself, but when I grew mass amounts, I used buckwheat and cow manure. Then I was able to divide each jar into two bags of cow manure, and make several cases out of one bag. More bang for your buck, you could say. lol. Then we have a room lined with plastic with shelves and a humidifier rigged to run constantly to reach 95% humidity. I've also got a temperature and humidity guage in there and a timer on the lights to turn on for only a couple hours a day or so. A good friend of mine had an obsession with growing all kinds of mushrooms, hallucinogenic and culinary, and taught me everything he could on growing them efficiently. It was good fun and a great thing to learn. =) But I guess the best way is for me to get her in to see an allergist. There's one in Rockford that takes her insurance, so we'll work out a way to get her there. I'd rather be safe about it than take the chance. Ya know? I love the girl, so I gotta take care of her. =)
Mushrooms make my nose really fucking runny and my eyes itch. When I had a qp everytime i opened the bag shroom dust would kinda go into the air and my nose would run like a motherfucker and my eyes would get all itchy it sucked. its like super potent pollen or something.
