why don't you just explain that they are a religious statement/thing/whatever they are to you. they can't discriminate against you because your hair reflects your religion, unless it's a (an unfounded) health concern.

i had a bar job, but frankly theyd take anyone, and it was a music venue and most of the other bar staff had multicoloured hair and/or tonnes of metal in their faces =] the interview i had the other day was just a shelf-stacking job, but i had my dreads pulled back and put them in a bun [cause it was quite hot] and then i wore my purdy new headband, just to prettify myself =] so yeah.. maybe go for bar work, or waiting tables? get a decent headband/wrap/tam/whatever you prefer, because if you wore one to an interview, you could say that you wouldnt mind wearing them tied back for work etc, so the employer would think 'hmmmmmm, hes thought this one through' =]

I do pull them back for interviews, but they still look messy. I have no bartending experience, and I would prefer to avoid alcohol altogether. Thanks. I have faith he will provide, he always does.
I have taken Samsons' vow- which does not include the corpse clause, or cutting of the beard. I am permitted to cut my hair once per year according to tradition.
i had no bar experience either =] and thats cool bou the drink, im not a huge drinker, but getting covered in sambucca every night wasnt that great
I haven't taken the oath of Sampson as I love to drink beer, but I regularly use that as a comparison when ignorant "religious" people blow me shit or make snide comments on my hair. I just say, I'm like sampson...no one says a word beyond that.
