I've heard arguments that it would go either way.
For instance, if marijuana is legalized the market would suddenly be flooded with tons of availibility. This sudden increase of suply would probably make prices alot cheaper bacause it so easy to obtain. but on the other hand look at how expensive salvia is, wouldn't it make sense that marijuana would also become more expensive if demand is increased (due to its legalization). And if it is legalized, the government (those bastards) would probably put a pretty hefty tax on it; taxes on a pack of cigarettes are already up to $1.01 per pack.

down for the first while. Then once the high demand really starts to peak it'll go up.

Down probably, the black market always makes thing more expensive, combined with give it 6 months and anyone with enough motivation to grow their own weed will start having their 1st batches being ready to smoke. Really the argument that legalizing weed will make it more expensive just doesn't hold up to any real economical logic

Overe here (anyway)...It wouldn't really matter the market price.
It would be taxed to within an inch of it's life.
If the legalisation is just in the USA...then the price probably won't fluctuate that much.
They'd be no exterior market forces so I think it would find a price and pretty much stay that way.

    Drop, definetly.

The government would no doubt still tax it, but they could not make it more exspensive than it already is. If they tried to tax it over the black market price, all the dealers would continue to sell theirs for less and and users would just buy the non-regulated pot. The funny thing is these dealers would still be criminals, they'd just be tax dodgers.

Fuurthemore, the reason MJ is artificially expensive is to pay the people who are putting their asses on the line to grow, harvest, and distribute something that comes with the threat of jail time.

MJ is just a plant. It is, aside from the legal constraints that would be lifted, relatively easy to grow. It gets difficult because growers have to go indoors and worry about stealthiness. If you could grow freely, most avid smokers would just set a handful of plants out in spring time and be set for the year.

Drop, it simply cuts out the huge chain of middle-men in the marijuana market.

I think it will go down. Yes demand will go up (prob a lot) but also sulply will go up.
I also figure a lot more people will be growing for them selves and for close friends instead of supplying a lot of people.

i really don't know. i voted consistent though. i gander prices would probably be like they are in amsterdam. i guess it all really depends on how heavily the shit is taxed.

I bet the prices would just be more uniform. In other words, you wouldn't see the huge price differences between different parts of the country. Right now the price of a certain amount can triple or more just by location.

But I still think prices overall would drop, not that drastically though.

i'd be excited to see improved quality and selection. like, you'd actually know for sure what strain you were getting. you'd know it wasn't laced. a regulated weed market man.

Do you think the government would try and prevent us from growing if it were legal?
