When one says the best ever do you mean musicianship or songwriting?

nothing wrong with that..one of my favorites, keith richards of the stones, said he is not a rock star..He was just a player in a band who by chance went huge..It didnt go to his head, and a lot of famous musicians thought the same way..

If you understand the philiosophy behind artists like Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Sid Vicious, Janis Joplin, etc., you will surely understand a lot more about Kurt Cobain. I noticed many peeps who (mis)judge Kurt know very little about the above-mentioned artists.

Famous people are always misjudged, whether they're idolized or looked down upon.

I remember having spoken about Jimi Hendrix once with a 30 year old woman. She told me she had felt a sort of strong sickness building up in her soul whenever she listened to his music....and the same thing happened to her with Nirvana's songs,,,so I asked her what that "sickness" could be and she said: "It's the disease called LIFE!" :):)
