Verbal Pauses and Filler Words

I hate verbal pauses. I have a few that I need to work on. yadamean, yadadamean, shit like that. Do you have any? Think valley girl saying like after every word.

"So, like have you ever like um had sex at like the beach or something."

 

Too many.

 

I say um alot. And "blah blah blah" to fill in for conversation when I'm retelling a story.

I say "like" probably a little too much.

And I tend to repeat myself.

And I also use the word "and" too much. And "really". And "very".

 

hahahaha, dumb people do this a lot. its almost as if their mouth moves faster than they can think. sometimes they're really really stupid and thats when i tell them to just "shut the fuck up."

some people can say it all, and mean nothing.

 

i have none. I am a master blackbelt of the english language. Except for my spelling sometimes.

 

I just speak before I think sometimes.

Doesn't exactly mean I'm dumb.

And this doesn't just go for me, either.

 

I go through periods of incoherency where it just doesn't work. When I do that I say 'um' or 'uh' more than usual. I say 'like' a fair amount as it is. I don't see a problem with it.

I don't think you should talk to yourself like that.

It can't be good for the self esteem.

 

I'm echolalic. I repeat what the person I am talking to says to me more often than not to pause for time, or repeat what I've just said to stall for time.

 

I do say "right, right" a lot..2 rights in a row, one after the other..this is not good at all.

I do that sometimes actually, I wouldn't say I have it but I do do that. While my brain processes it.

 

I speak before I think a lot... doesn't mean you;re dumb, it means you have a very active mind.

 

lol... just keep telling that to yourself. it might sound something like this...

"i'm um, not like dumb or anything. really. like, i'm one of the like the smartest people i know."

 

Thank god that I don't....

If you want people to laugh at stupid jokes go hang out with the special olymic kids, they'll laugh at anything, even dumb ass jokes like this....

 

I think this really is the case of the pot calling the kettle dumb.

 

um so like if i use like simple um small words to ya know get my point across but like i'm putting them in a sorta way that isn't like smart that means i'm dumb?

I have to put fillers in my speech, because I stutter otherwise.

 

aww. Hubby stutters.. but he tends to take pauses instead of stuttering.
For the LONGEST time I didn't know he had a stutter because I just thought he was a stoner that took pauses in his speech(that and his stutter has never been bad around just me ).
