Why should the childs popularity, education, or even day-to-day life be affected because his or her mother decides to not use a blade to shave hair that grows there naturally?

All I can really say is...

That said so much more about you than I could ever even begin to say.

shaving is fashion and nothing more.

abstaining is your choice, and i really don't care about your armpits, or anyone elses.

but why tell her it's weird to fit in, to look more or less like most other people?

kids need some support growing up. if your 10 year old daughter is hairy enough that she feels the need to shave, and you can tell the difference, then why give such a young kid some sort of complex by impressing upon them that the fashion they currently enjoy participating in is silly or weird? why alienate her by letting her watch you post about your conflicting opinions?

you may not like to shave or think its worthwhile, but thats simply a fashion choice, as is shaving. it may be "hip" or whatever, may be more "natural" but its not the general consensus of beauty, and most people, ESPECIALLY teens and children approaching adolescence, want to look what both they AND other people consider attractive.

anyway, there are plenty of men who like hairy women, that's true. i'm not arguing otherwise, but i WILL state that it is not the norm in today's society, and there is nothing wrong with making some concessions to look what one feels is their best, if one really thinks they look better that way. and while this may not be the best reason, there's also nothing wrong with a little bit of conformity for the sake of not making waves. not everyone wants to stand out, especially not such young kids.

and it doesn't sound like your feelings are hurt by what she's said, but it does sound like her feelings are a little touchy on the subject, so why pester her about it? i'm not saying change the way you look, just don't need to make a big deal about it, let her watch you talk to strangers about her insecurities and such. idk, whatever.

i guess it isn't my business, but this was posted on a public forum, encouraging discussion of the matter....

The word female comes from the Latin femella, the diminutive form of femina, meaning "woman," which is not actually related to the word "male." In the late 14th century, the English spelling was altered so that the word paralleled the spelling of "male."

If it's negative a preference is shallow.
    If it's positive then it's A-Okay!

    I can't do it. ew.
I can't even figure out how men with hairy armpits wear deodorant isn't that sort of gross?
Hubby does have armpit hair but his isn't that bad for some reason(it like thin and light and straight hair.. not that weird thick black pubic type hair most people have under their arms)- and no lie I would beg him to shave it if it was , so I can understand men having that preference.Does that make me shallow??

I 'spose thats a bit better, hubby uses that or clear stuff. eww white deo stick in hair.

Oh, Hubby is sooo worse than me I have seen him GAG at the sight of a chick with hairy armpits and the chunks of white deo stuck in it.
Tiniest bit of stubble turns him off.
