Hi guys I need a bit of help, I have been stretching my lobes over the last five years or so. The last time I stretched was about 6 months ago from a 7mm to an 8mm (Sorry not familar with gauges).

Suddenly over the last three days I've developed a major infection in my right lobe. I've had to take the jewellry out because my ear was bloodily weeping everywhere and swollen. I have no idea what's caused this infection. I now have this crust formed over the piercing holes... Ekk. Will I still be able to stretch it back after the infections gone? Or will I have to get it repierced? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks

Yep had the same probs in my ear at 8mm ish, looked fine when i did it then got swollen, bloody wasn't too good. I'd reccomend just downsizing mabye 2mm and keeping jewellery in. If their is an infection and the piercing shrinks down and closes up it can trap the infection in the tissue. Try salt soaks twice a day and thoroughly wash your hands before, try not to pull any crust through when cleaning and it should start to look alot better. Dipping cotton wool pad in the solution and soaking the ear draws out the gunk too.Try to avoid natural materials and acrylic for jewlellery too. Happy healing :)

i get the same problems, my ear gets crusty. i think it's because of the stretching jewelry. i can't stretch with acrylic or i get crusty. i would recommend going down a size and trying again in a few months

Cool! I'd rather downsixe by 1mm than go down to 2mm It's been such a long time trying to get them this big. Would you recommend poking it with a sterile pin to re open the piercing after it heals?

My right ear(been at 3/4s since feb) randomly got swollen a few weeks ago, and was pussing and all that stuff. I just cleaned it, put some jojoba oil on it and put the jewelery back in.. it calmed down after a few days of being sore& gross. But you should probably listen to ^those peoplez instead :p

Don't completely leave it out, it'll make stretching a bitch later on, in my experience. Did you use a different material this time around? It sounds like you tugged on it or something, maybe in yr sleep.

I wouldn't take it out, but do salt soaks two or three times a day. 1/8th teaspoon sea salt in a cup of warm water, just dip yr ear in. What's yr jewelry made of? Try switching to glass or titanium.

I had that problem at 3/4" in my right ear and I now only have one gauge. It was a tough decision whether or not to continue gauging one ear but I said fuck it, I'm almost at 1 1/8" now.
