Alternating cold and hot in the shower is supposed to help. take 800mg of ibuprofen (advil). If you have some naproxen take less ibuprofen and some naproxen, like 500mg ibuprofen and 200mg naproxen. Naproxen (aleve) is supposed to be the strongest OTC pain med. If those don't help large doses of DXM get me pretty numb... But they also make you high. So take it or leave it.
Demerol is the only thing for me! Usually when I have cramps I just try to sleep, nothing works... temperatures, midol, any kind of "the" pill...
advil.. or any ibuprofen products work. but then, when you keep on taking this, it loses its effectivity. what usually works for me is getting enough exercise before my period. my cramps aren't as bad.
what? it really hurts when my pants are too tight. right up in my stomach too. i swear that's what it must be like.
this may appear to be a really off topic question, but i assure you its not. do you by any chance ingest in large or even small amounts of soy product? milk, tofu etc???
Beer. I'm a guy, and I'm not just trying to get you sauced. Here's why beer is natures perfect menstrual food. Alcohol is an incredibly effective analgesic, while Tylenol begins to lose it's analgesic properties at around 500 mg, making it effective for moderate pain, alcohol is an effective analgesic and dissociative, not only reliving pain, but making it less obvious. Beer is much safer at higher dose as well. Drinking 6 beers is much better for your phosphate levels then taking 6 Tylenol. On the topic of mood, one of the major reason depression is associated with PMS, is because of a lower level of an important inhibitory transmitter. (GABA) Lower levels of Butamic acid (GABA) are associated with many kinds of stress, including schizophrenia. Not that I'm implying PMS is like schizophrenia, it's just intresting. Alchol's main mode of action, is to prevent the reuptake of GABA, flooding the neuron with this chemical, reliving stress associated with PMS. And beer specifically because it acts as a diuretic, reliving water retention and bloating commonly associated with PMS.
I try to force myself to exercise. It usually eases my cramps significantly. However, convincing myself to move during my period is another long and painful process.
I take 800 mg Ibuprofen and 2 Immodium AD. I used to have cramps that would lay me out for the entire day. Usually accompanied by vomiting. I tried this and have never had a problem again. Dunno what it is, I told my mom to try it too and she says it's a miracle as well.
I eat soya things sometimes and I rarely get painful periods...not to the point were I need painkillers, anyway
