Carrie's mother was abusive - Nothing makes me angrier than child abuse. It's one of the many reasons I decided to major in psychology.

I do not feel christians are any closer to god than anyone else, including atheists. Media sources always focus on the -ve, with any group, leaving uninformed people with the idea that the whole group is guilty. Teenagers know what I am saying. Most teens are great, but all I hear is how bad they are, cuz that is what makes the news. Like the saying goes, "Not doing something is not news."
So, abuse pierces all demographics, and the reason we see so many Christians in the news guilty of it is that we have evolved historically as a Christian culture. That is changing, which I applaud, since I want all faiths to live together and get along.
If some Christian fundamentalist grew up in a Muslim country, he would have been a Muslim fundamentalist there, and vice versa, most times.
My dream is that all of the believers worldwide will someday accept that the other faiths are true too, and accept the members of all religions without reservation and without feeling the need to convert them.

 

If John Kerry had taken a strong stand against abortion he might be the president, but he did not have any christian works, and as a result politically he is the one that is dead. Democrats are aborting their party away that is why they are having a hard time finding the votes. Republican woman donot believe in abortion like Democratic woman do. Truer words have never been spoken. That type of religion appeals to those desperately in need of some type of crutch.

It seems many fundamentalist christians have had bad lives, many genetically selected against apparantly, judging by the looks of many of them. Its just one of those things that appeal to generally uneducated rural people who haven't been exposed to much, and that can happen in any country.

i would like to know the number of fundamentalists who were molested as children, I'm sure the number is higher than in the general population.

Does that mean you mindless conservatives are going to outlaw contraceptives next because those sperm cells are "not born children". you really have to draw the line somewhere. a baby is not born until it comes out, when it gets it official birth certificate. i know of no country that hands out birth certificates while the baby is still developing inside the mother. im sure all thses dumbass 15 year olds running around with babies are christian conservatives, ive reached this conclusion because they dont believe in condoms and birth control, because those are blocking "gods natural way".

Scott Peterson is being tried for two murders not one. And I don't see any birth certificate for his unborn son. It is because Democrats believe that the whole problem with abortion is basically a plumbing problem is the reason their party is being viewed as morally bankrupted. The demographics of the Democratic party are changing because it is believed Democratic women have at least 30% more abortions than Republican woman. This is the reason the Republican population is surging. So when I say the Democratic party is aborting itself that is the reason. News week had an artical on this and the title of the artical was. The cradel will rock. As a christian conserative the line is drawn at conception, which is the biblical standard. I don't know what will be outlawed but I know sooner or later abortion will be. I also believe are country is going to have a cival war over this issue and that is when America's enemies will move against us. My what a stereo-typical, prejudical response. The, "Unedcuated people", at my church are Architects, Police Officers, Physicians in training, Teachers in training, and I, myself, am a Psychology major.

As far as the statement of, "not being exposed to much", goes, quite a few, "fundamentalist", were raised in urban communities and had early exposure to the ways of the world such as drugs, sex, money, and murder.

I personally know more non-church goers who were sexually abused as children than church goers. However, that is besides the point. Most people do not turn to faith due to a solitary incident in their lives.

I just want to say that I believe in Spirit, prayer, miracles, and magic, cuz I kinda have no choice. Seen too much.

It is good to see you posting too, BlackVelvet. It is so refreshing to see a post by a loving, compassionate human being. I wish we all could be so accepting and loving, and not discriminate and judge others when the judgers themselves have a whole hell of a lot of personal growth work to do, in my humble opinion. clean up their own backyard, and mind your own beeswax is what comes to mind when I hear them pontificate on the "righteous path".
