I just lost 25 pounds in two months (two months ago my doctor reccomended I lose 15 pounds), just by eatign healthy, that proves I can be commited to a gym when we move less than a mile away from one (no gym where we live now).
I have a lot of self-control. I am just very out of shape, but I ran track in college and high school, so I do know how to work out. I'm just embarassed I guess that I let myself get out of shape. i want to keep low key and informal and want to exercise as much for my mood as I do for tightening up and losing a bit more fat around my stomache and sides.
I guess I don;t have a desire to be in awesome shape either. I want to be very healthy, but I don't need a perfectly flat stomache that I am goign to ruin when I get knocked up soon anyway.

if you have a plan that will get you into shape then go for that - only if you know you can stick to it. if not, then i would suck it up and go with the personal trainer. butttt if the idea of having one turns you off so much that you wouldnt be committed, then dont wouldnt waste the time and money

    it is a huge commitment...

a good trainer will be knowledgeable and be able to work around your personal space issue - think of trainers that just write a program for someone, work on technique for a little while and then you are on your own and only have a meeting with the trainer to reassess where you are at. or you just see someone for an assessment of your weak points so you know what and where they are (whether they are a flexibility, mobility, strength imbalance, etc) and then you go on your own.

a good trainer is well capable of working with and around your specific goals.

you certainly don't need a trainer to live a healthy life.

That's a good idea, just once amonth or something. Someone to be accountable to.
I will try that if I can;t do it on my own. I dislike leaving my sewing machine, so we will see if I can keep teh promises I have made to myself.
Thank you for your help Fitz :D.

Oh man, I'd be escatic! It seems so indulgent to me. I've been working out on my own for years. I've had a ton of progress, but I'm betting if I had a personal trainer, I'd REALLY have a more rockin' body going on. I mean, I've put a lot of work into my figure and it looks great (hey, I've worked hard, it wasn't easy, I deserve to toot my own horn a bit!) from all the hard work and discipline, especially after having three kids (two of which were twins, and man, did they ever split my tummy muscles), but I think a trainer would bring me to an even higher level.

My SIL has a personal trainer. I've actually gotten a lot of tips from her...it's amazing though how quickly she started to have noticable results with the trainer as opposed to how long it took me to get where she's at. Hmmm. Then again, we've got totally different body frames. She's quite a bit taller than I am, and built like what I refer to as willowy. Not "hippy" like me. I'm curvy, she's more straight up and down.

    hate to tell you,

all the working out in the world is going to do ZERO for loose skin. skin doesnt tighten or tone only the muscles under it.

unless you bulk up to the size you were before you lost weight you are doomed to having loose flabby skin forevermore.

there is always cosmetic surgery though.

He speaks the truth. My poor belly muscles are totally shot from having the twins. My belly got so big on my little frame that the skin was stretched to no end. My abs are tight, but my belly skin will forever be loose. Not like it hangs or anything, but it's not going anywhere.

And I'm not getting surgery to fix it.

I'm into sports and fitness. And how whoever I'm going out with looks is very important to me.Likewise I'd always wanna keep in shape for them.

Answering the other q, I think personal trainers can be good.
There's nothing worse than wasting time training the wrong way.
It could mean you get superfit very quickly.

I think exer, partic cardio really helps with ADD- esp in the morning.
    It'd help your time management.

Go for a monthly training session?
