I am very sick in my stomach. I'm pretty sure it's those antibiotics I'm taking (amoxicillin) to fight a possible wisdom tooth peeking through my gum infection.. I'm getting it pulled out next week.. so I was prescribed that in the meantime.

My parents told me to eat yogurt to help.. but I wonder if it's doing any good :ack2:

Yeah, I'm unfortunately on an antibiotic too, Doxycycline, and while it's definitely helped me feel better (because dang, I felt like crap for 2 weeks, major sinus infection, respiratory infection, bronchial spasms, now I finally feel like myself again!), it makes me feel sick to my stomach when I take it. Bad thing is, I have quite a while longer on it. Ugh. My first dose actually caused me to vomit. I took it, and it wasn't much longer afterwards that I was hit with this horrendous wave of nausea and that was it.

I've been able to keep it down since, but it's not easy. I'm still getting these waves of nausea when I take it, and I have to take it twice a day. It's like, take the med to take care of one problem only to end up with another one. ;)

Do you have to take them on an empty stomach? If not, make sure you take them with food. It'll help.

Eating yogurt will help you to not get a yeast infection...antibiotics kill our good bacteria too...

My antibiotic says I'm supposed to take it on an empty stomach. But when I did that, I threw up. So I've been taking mine with a little food and it helps. Still makes me queasy, but not nearly as much as it does on an empty stomach.

I can't wait until I'm done with it, it's hard for me to remember to take them twice a day.

can take them with food, or coat your stomach with milk first

another idea is to cut down on the dosage and take it more frequently (if you're doing it once a day, cut it in half and take it twice a day - if twice a day, go to four, etc.) the higher the dosage, the more queasy it can make a person

antibiotics can also contribute to yeast infections in chicks - best to eat yogurt while on them, or better yet, drink buttermilk...whole buttermilk is actually pretty tasty :)

Yeah, they usually prescribe that to me if I need an antibiotic because I can't take Penicillin. It makes me break out in hives.
