No, that's not a misspelling of "heroes"! Heros is a Greek word referring to the consort of the Goddess.

This book--The Goddess and Her Heros by Heide Gottner-Abendroth--is a valuable and incisive study of the ancient cultures of Goddess-worship and the ways in which these beliefs are perpetuated in subtle ways down to the present day.

It is a good companion or follow-up to Riane Eisler's The Chalice and the Blade. Anyone interested in exploring the broader and deeper meanings of religion will be interested in this book. Pantheists or anyone acknowledging the the existence of multiple higher powers will find this a fascinating addition to the literature of spirituality.
