My brother is an artist and i designed his website. We need input and comments. His pots get anywhere from $50 to $500 at shows he travels to but is lucky if he breaks even with his expenses. He inherited all the artistic talent in the family. After 20 years of making pottery he is still a starving artist. www.oldpatagoniapottery.com Thanks
The first thing that jumps out at me is those small black, white and red fonts... It's *very* difficult to read. In fact, I cannot read the show date, on top of the flower. The photo that you have set as the background has a line running down the right side. It's kinda distracting. There is also what appears to be a lot of dust specks, on many of the pics throughout the site. In your menu, all of the words "desrip" are in lowercase. You might want to capitalize, to match the other links. Of course those links don't go anywhere... I would move the guestbook link down. Put it below the next show date. There was a counter error, on the Artist Bio page. Also, I think that having two pages: Artist Bio and About the Artist, is redundant. I would combine those into one. Your Bio page and Contact page have plain backgrounds. I would suggest matching them to the other pages, by including some photos of your brothers work, either on all the pages somewhere, or as the backgrounds. Other than those few things, it looks pretty good! IHTH
i luv the pottery ! Human animal figures female ... need somthin to compare size too tho.. plz how much are they im in London ! the site background make it one pic.. not split..and the colors are washed out.. change it top white panel needs to be a color, it looks badly copied ! i cant read the text on there.. i agree with above comments too good luck ! if you need anthin for this i help if i can.. send me a PM Message !
Thanks for the comments so far, My brother is hooked on using the badly scanned pic of that pot for his start page. combining Biography and "About the Artist" really is the logical thing to do. Autumn, i went a little overboard with the link table on the first page. "descrip" was extra links i thought i whould need but i'm going to clean that up. My brother insists on having a counter, that error thingy i'm working on. My brother is hooked on that plain background color, I tell him "You're an artist that uses textures". His pottery as a background is a great idea. JadeWarrior, can you convert pics to use as a background? i have editing software but don't know what dimensions to crop a pic to.
it's a wonderful, maybe make the wording bolder, it's very hard to read, i could barely decipher the show dates. the picture of the pottery is fantastic, though
i used to work as a professional webmaster. for artistic sites i ussually used inline frames, they help keep a constant theme throughout the site www.ravishmusic.com and www.martythebear.com are two site that i still maintain which both use inline frames. i think they will help make the site more attractive.
