hiii, im new here and well i decided to grow dreads about a year ago.. so basically for the past 3 months ive been neglecting my hair..doing it the natural way. but i dunno if its going so well. my hair is naturally curly and just a mess so yeah ahah please can i have some feedback!!!!!! ohh i wondered what i should be doing when washing it? should i just use normal products? and how often should i wash it? thanks!
neato. read the FAQ if you haven't already. most here use bicarb, dr. bronners, or just water to wash with. are you using conditioners? doesn't look like much is happening at 3 months...
yeah i dont have dreads anymore but i went natural, but yeah just make sure that your dreads dont all become one dread.. unless that what you want. because my hair is real curly and i noticed it i didnt keep the dreads seperate untill they locked up good that they would all just merge together.
Ohhh man. I neglected my hair for half a year before realizing that my shampoo had conditioners in it... needless to say I got nowhere. But definitely keep neglecting, looks like your hair will lock up fast. Just switch shampoos. and check out the "read before posting" thread.
just read the FAQ's and im gonna buy some dr. bronner’s tomorrow. hopefully something will happen! ill try and post pics to timeline my progress!
yes, your hair looks like it will lock up lovely. does look very glossy and brushed though. were you running your fingers through it? why did you choose Dr. B? (just wondering) if I was going natural I'd prolly use baking soda as I ofund it dried up my hair a bit which is good for dreads. Lately I haven't heard the best reviews on Dr. B
thank you, and yeah ive ran my fingers through it a few times, ahah. i chose broners because ive just heard good reviews about it, and one of my friends has it too. but ill try the baking soda if you think that will be better
Before I decided to dread my hair, I would sometimes use DR. Bronners, and it felt just nasty on my hair. On my dreadlocks, It feels like nothing, but on normal hair, it was sticky and gross. I would suggest something else, there are many more great products out there, and people just turn to Dr. Bronners as a default.
i like bronners and have never had the icky feeling that people talk about. maybe b/c you're supposed to dilute it 12:1, and it may be because of hard water that some people have. use it, if you like it, stick with it.
I just hate the residue bronner's leaves in my dreads. But I like the smell, I use it sometimes. I actually used >gasp< bedhead shampoo last time I washed because I had a bunch left, but I do not recommend it, esp on new dreads.
i used bronners for well over a decade and loved it. but now i use baking soda and think its best especialy on dandruff and buioldup your hair looks like it will dread really fast as long as u dont condition it at all idf recomend the baking soda add extra sea salt at 1st and avoid acv till its starting to get tight
