i just made some small explosions

no, this thread is not about my gastrointestinal tract.

its odd, back in ohio i don't think you can buy fireworks. sparklers....those impact noise maker things ("poppers"), smoke bombs, things like that....but i've never seen proper fireworks for sale in ohio.

i'm living in indiana now, and you can get them in the groceries this time of year.

i got a 60 dollar set of fireworks at sam's club for 20 bucks today

its mostly small stuff....some ground stuff that makes noise and blows up and sparks a lot....some roman candles....

but there's also some badass stuff in it. mortars. one reloadable tube with 6 of em for it, and four minis.

also a couple fountains. just generally fun stuff.

i just set off a few of the wimpy ones in the alley for fun. they're cool :cheers2:

weekend after next, when all the fireworks are on super discounted sales because the fourth is over, we're going to a friend's parents' place up in indy so we can set off the more heavy duty ones. it's gonna be sweet....drinking and blowing shit up. good times

anyway, i never got to play with explosives living where i did. even these wimpy little ones are a hell of a lot of fun. makes me feel like a kid

 

i was at a party at my neighbors yesterday and we had a big box mortar that had, i think, like 12 shots in it...the first couple were good then one went real crooked down the alley and almost hit the house oppisite us and then the one after that shot at my neighbors house, hit the wall and exploded...nothing caught on fire but it was still crazy

 

damn. yeah, thats why i'm not trying the others right now, i want to be able to get far away from buildings and on private land before trying out the big ones. for now some little wimpy ones are fun

you can buy fireworks in ohio; there's a pretty big fireworks store in sandusky, and fireworks would always show up at big lots every summer after the 4th. nothing huge of course, but at least roman candle level.

there must be some sort of catch to it though, because it seems like there's fireworks stores all over the place just over the michigan border. seems like i remember hearing that you can buy fireworks here but can't legally set them off, or something like that. but i could be wrong; it's been a long time since i heard that.

my dad used to have a friend who could get stuff like that. those were some good summers.

You can buy fireworks here in Ohio. YOu can only get the projectile kind at a fireworks retailer though. They make you sign a waiver/oath type of agreement that you will not detonate them in Ohio. No kidding...

There's a Phantom Fireworks outlet about five minutes from me.

The law goes almost completely unenforced.

 

We live in Ohio and we always get sparklers and a few other things for the kids for the 4th, but we leave the firework displays to the other people in the neighborhood (don't want to spend the jack!), and we're never disappointed! They put on some pretty impressive ones too. Pretty sure it's not legal but the cops don't seem to bother with anybody around here on the 4th, so it's all good.

 

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah, thats right. just don't see them around columbus. come to think of it, i see one or two on the highway sometimes in some less urban areas.

they're extremely common where i am now, though. fireworks stores exist, and even grocery stores carry proper fireworks (like i said i got mortars and stuff at sams club)

outside walmart someone set up a huge tent selling tons of expensive fireworks.

no waivers or anything, but you can't set them off just anywhere
