I remember back in Ireland thinking that poorer kids were generally fatter than rich kids. Here, it's the other way round. The private school I'm teaching at now has more little porkers attending it than all the government schools put together that I've been to over here(about 60+). Is size and wealth connected where you live? Please generalise as much as you like. RT loves sweeping accusations.
It's kind of a bell curve here. Rich means great, low fat food. Gyms. Exercise equipment. Diet tablets. Poor means little food. Middle means food, busy lifestyle, etc. So it kind of goes... I'll draw you a picture
Where I reside, it seems the more financially stable are on the thinner side, and the more financially disadvantaged tend to be on the heavier side. But really, I've seen both either way, so I guess it's kind of hard to generalize.
As a generalisation, that's probably incorrect. I suppose it's really really wealthy vs extremely poor.
well the size of my dick was directly related to the size of the wad in my wallet--but now that im poor its still big even without the money--LOL
 i duno, i really think the poor kids are fat... then again, i dont really know many poor kids but wasnt it like bak in them greek times or something, when you were fat was a sign of wealth because u could afford loads of food
i dont think it does. i know loads of thin people, rich and poor and lots of fat people, rich and poor. it's just the rich can afford a gastric band.
i dont think there is any correlation between wealth and size in the united states anymore. most people are fat. thats just the way it is.
the combination of american sloth and food pricing generally leads to more obesity in low-income individuals, but of course there are tons of fatties in every level of society here. but cheaper foods that require little preparation here are things like boxed foods (macaroni and cheese, junk food, etc.) and fast food hamburgers and things are also cheaper than eating real food. poor nutrition and a frequently hectic lifestyle, along with little cash to spend on food, often lead to eating very poorly. of course it doesnt have to be like that if someone knows how to cook. i can get whole chickens for under a dollar per pound, a big bag of russet potatoes for under 2 bucks, a bunch of carrots for a buck, a bunch of celery for under two.... i had some scraps left on the last chicken i made, as well as some properly left-over meat (a drumstick) i currently have the remainder of the carcass in a stock pot, boiling the meat off the bones. when done, i'll have a whole meal's worth of meat that couldn't easily be removed with a knife because its largely in hard to get places. i'm boiling it in a combination of water and a can of chicken broth. also threw in 3 cloves of garlic, crushed, celery seed, two bay leaves, some pepper, and a cube of instant beef stock. once the meat is off the bones i'll reduce the liquid and add chopped onion, celery, and carrots, and maybe a green bell pepper, too. once the flavors start to mingle i'll toss in some egg noodles. it should be ready in a couple hours, so i'll either have homemade chicken soup for lunch or for a good supper. this will be a good meal, a healthy meal, and a meal that will cost me about 4 bucks total. people who claim its cheaper to eat junk food or fast food are just too lazy to learn to cook. i can feed 5 people on a 5 dollar chicken, a dollars worth of roasted potatoes, and 1-2 dollars worth of fresh green beans. when feeding myself, it goes a lot further
There's various subgroups I'd say. Working class fitness people tend to be in better shape than middle class ones. Their jobs are stenuous and they have more time spare. Most really fat people tend to be working class- eating junk food, type of depression- it becomes a cheap hobby. Less fat rich people than in the past. Some are "out of shape" but its very rare for a rich person to be horrifically obese, in comparison to say working class. In India, fat kids seems to be a type of status symbol for the wealthy.Nowadays in Britain, there is a stigma attached to being fat. Its all complex.
I haven't noticed really, but I imagine the fat/poor connection has to do with ignorance of healthy diet, and the availability of junk food. Also with living in a city, sports and activities cost money. Only the rich kids can afford to play hockey, baseball, soccer, etc. The fat/rich in a place like Thailand would be because the rich can afford extra food (and it is probably a status symbol to have fat kids), the poor can only afford to survive.
Prepackaged food is garbage. I cook too. It takes more time and some work (enjoyable work if you ask me) but it's much less expensive, & so much better for you... Less sodium, monosodium glutamate, starch, and other additives... That soup sounds tasty! There is one noteworthy difference I see working with children that relates to this topic... The poor kids tend to get more excersise due to their parents not being able to afford a bunch of electronics, so those kids actually play.
while its certainly not cheaper than making and seasoning rice yourself, i will admit to loving uncle ben's wild rice mixes
Here in my city in China, people sometimes have a table full of food. It is a symbol to show their wealth. That one or two people can have a table full of food and not even bother to finish half of it. So sometimes, lots of food = lots of wealth (or pretending) = fat. Plus the men drink beer like water so they tend to have beer bellies. 625 ML of decent beer is 2.5 RMB (yuan) or 25 euro cents. So even a man on a less than decent wage can get pretty damn drunk. They can spend 10-20 yuan and get between 7-15 sticks of meat, or 1-2 euros. Drunken craziness with food galore with you and 2-3 buddies, about 65 RMB, 6.50 euros! Add in a few big veggie plates and it is 75-80 RMB. The Chinese love to eat veggies and muton sticks while drinking. You can also get real cheap wine (which can be up to 40% Alcohol volume, for 10 yuan, or even vodka for 10 RMB, 1 euro). You drink cheap, you get fat for cheap, easily.
I really hate it when people try and push food down others.Like they're offended if u dont wanna eat cakes and shit.People who treat food purely as a hobby, u can tell a mile off. I eat when I'm hungry. If I'm not, I won't.
well i don`t know. but i just came home from a resturant i was with a friend of mine. a gypsy woman came at one point and she asked us to give her our meal because she was very hungy....of course i gave her what i had, because i was no longer eating...but it was so fucked up .
