Has internet use peaked(gotten as high as it will go) in developed countries?I'm of course referring to developed countries that have had computers and internet for quite some time now.I know it's a difficult question, but what do you think?
this is what i was going to say. maybe if the conspiracy people are right and we are all about to be forced to live in the woods for the next hundred years, then it might drop off a bit. but i'm not counting on it.
soon enough the internet will be a pay per site or per bits used world and usage will level off if not decline in spite of population growth.
If that happens I agree usage will decline in great numbers.Might not be a bad thing though.--Of course that's my opinion,I could manage without the net fine, but thats me.
no, because population is growing AND because we will always use the internet, so will our children and children's children, which is different than today when some people from older generations do not use the internet much.
No, not even close. A whole lot of people still don't have any access to a computer what-so-ever. Give it another 20-50 years.
I didn't even read the thread. internet use will increase both by people, and by computer driven devices in the coming years and decades. we have webphones now, and a FEW GPS devices that check the internet for traffic, well, guess what, that's moving toward becoming a standard feature. lots of stuff is, and as old people who are not technologically literate, or unwilling to become technically literate, we are going to move forward at an ever increasing rate. your camera will be able to connect direct to the internet through your cell company (via an SD card adapter) and post your photos on the web immediately to be fair, the tech for that exists, just no one has marketed it yet, just make the minisd adapter the "phone" and make the minisd the "sim card" dial up, and upload, put in an external jack for the extensible memory. biggest problem withit right now is cost of wireless bandwidth (unless you're talking G-3) and the u.s. move toward limiting bandwidth (SBC is actually looking to get rid of all of it's unlimited bandwidth customers, reno just happens to be their cap test market, which was unfortunate) The coming generations will see the internet used in new and interesting ways we can't imagine yet, and it will be beautiful that feel better zillinator?
I think the OPs question was more to do with are we over some elements on the web. I'm a bit of a net junkie, but so over Facebook, Twitter and Blogging, no one is really that interesting. Games on cell phones, really annoying. Most are too paranoid to put credit card details on the web, so e-commerce is limited, even though in some cases it may be more secure than a waiter ducking behind the counter with your credit card at a restaurant. I still prefer to see a movie on the big screen as part of a night out. And probably most importantly the more we sit in front of a computer the fatter we get and the more self conscious and terrible we feel about ourselves. And what happens when we get brain interfaces, go for a jog and be able to browse the web via a Head up display. Or sit in a Uni lecture, looking at powerpoint presentations of differential calculus with one eye, watch porn on the head up display with the other eye?
Yeah. I really can't see the internet use declining at all in the next 20 years. Even if you ignore the population increase, old people decrease etc. Example: I'm starting my Physics A level in September, with the course there is a textbook to compliment it. Part of the textbook is on the internet. This is so that we can work on it from home. So it's easier. This is the first time they're trying it out, but I don't see why they won't implement this for every other lesson.
Exactly, what you mentioned was a big part of my question.--You pretty much summed up alot of things I fully agree with.----Something like Twitter for example ,I don't know what it is,and I do not want to know what it is..They can come out with all the 'twitters','facebooks' etc. etc. and so on and it just amounts to the same thing--alot of nonsense.--Alot of the net gets old and boring very fast.
no cas i just discovered it a couple years ago----used it to buy drugs- massive ammts of cheap benzos from overseas not to mention pods and salvia now i met 2 sweet girls online that i met IRL and were friends--with power like that how can it be stopped--or peaked out--im still learning the shit--i feel it has a long way to go----IMO
am i reading this right? they give you a textbook, which you could easily take home, but then part of the textbook is also online so that you can see it at home even though a lot of people don't have home internet access? so it's easier for the rich people and the poor kids have to go to the library to do their homework?
