Lately Ive been thinking a lot about the Mushroom. Its role in religious cults, its creative potential, its place in human development, etc. After reading Terence McKenna's book The Archaic Revival, I find myself having a more reverent attitude towards the mushroom, as well as the other visionary plants (I know mushrooms arent a plant.)

Two nights ago, two friends and I partook of some mushrooms, with no intention for the trip, except to have fun. I ate an eighth, one friend ate an eighth, and the other friend ate 3/4 of an eighth, because he was less experienced. some twenty minutes after eating them, I already felt an intense come up, stronger than I ever remembered before. I remember sitting on the couch and thinking I might not be able to handle coming on that strong. I took several deep breaths, and focused my mind. I felt I had centered myself, but still, with no particular intention for the trip.

We eventually went to the creek bed near my house (it was about 9:30 pm) and the trip started to blast off. Amongst the normal tripping experience, I had amazing visions. Not visuals, but actual images appearing before me. Everything took on an Aztec appearance, and this great blue and white bird was brought before my eyes. There was intricate leaf patterning, bright blue suns and also a winged sphinx. the visuals also took on a new dimension, perfect fractals coated everything, one of my friends and I described the stars as looking like a jeweled, feathered turtle shell. As I fell asleep, this massive, complex machine appeared, but I didnt know what it does, possibly a calendar. In short, a truly visionary experience. I felt I as been put in the place of a member of an ancient mushroom cult, as though I was a god, all knowing and all powerful.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. As you learn more about the mushroom, about their history, about their cultivation, about their personality, do you find the experience to be more rewarding? My next quest is to be five dried grams, and Im very excited to see where it brings me.

you can put all kinds of things in your mind

    and then have them spill out in a psychedelic state;

whether "mushrooms are the flesh of god", or "drugs are bad"

    still just mind

during my most profound psychedelic experiences, on lsd, mushrooms, and dpt, i have never had 'hallucinations' or 'visions', its always been the world melting in a liquid way, colors getting brighter, and my ego vanishing. on dpt and mushrooms the melting visuals went so far as to make visual reality form-less, just a barrage of colors and tones and textures.

i mean, on a weak shroom trip once a rock kind of looked like a toad, and on cannabis I often have brief 1 or 2 second hallucinations of people or animals around me, but that's it. i've never had a full blown vision of an alternate reality. it's always this reality, and i'm the thing thats changing.

for me a good trip requires envisioning what I want to accomplish beforehand. I can't just be eating mushies to trip for the sake of tripping, because if you don't take control of the mushrooms, they will take control of you. when that happens... you're in for one hell of a night.

Right, until this trip, theyd all been how you described them. But I wasnt hallucinating, I was still aware of my surroundings, I was seeing the images with my third eye. Thats what Im wondering, if by focusing on your trips when not tripping, can you qualitatively improve the fabric of your experience? And I never really set out with a goal in mind, but sometimes one will present itself. Theres no reason to limit yourself and your thoughts to one idea, it almost defeats the point.

On the topic of Alice, I can't wait until Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland comes out. I'll bet it's going to be awesome.

i think the whole point is to let go and stop trying to hold on to your cute little "goals", and see what the temples want to show you ;)

yea, what's up with the steady stream of people lately insisting that they "control" their trips?

I guess Ive gotten to the point were I can manipulate aspects of my trips, but that probably just means I need to Increase Dose, as prone would say. But I dont think having a goal for the trip is the same as "controlling" it.

iv also had full blown visionary expiriences with mushrooms. not visuals, visions. lsd as well, but only once, and only for a moment. i was transported into another realm that in no way resembled the one i dosed in, and was able to walk about for a minute or so. not behind closesd eyes, but with eyes wide open. with mushrooms it happens with my eyes closed.

with mushrooms i can say that after my first visionary trip, it has never been the same again. its felt as though iv entered into a much deeper communion with the mushrooms. there was some strange phenomenon that night in real life, when i look back on it. i went outside to pee at one point only to find more deer than id ever seen at once staring at me, the moon reflecting their gaze. lol.
there is a voice present now that acts as a guide for my trips, revealing some pretty specific information at times. it all gets pretty far out. i havent eaten mushrooms for about two years now though. maybe its time again. lol. ayahuasca has since become my medium of choice, and i honestly havent had much desire to eat mushrooms or lsd for a long time.

sounds to me like mushrooms like you man. lol

The Logos. I have yet to hear it, but Im planning a five gram experience soon, though, and it promises to be transcendental. If I may ask, what has the Logos told you?

well at first i was interested in just how this communication was taking place, so there was a dialog about that. it also has told me ways to "carry myself" without losing energy or personal power. you know, things like avoiding eye contact with passer-bys drains us of that. i had one trip where that sort of lessen was the theme. showing me all the ways in which im losing energy and how to simply correct them.

thats what comes to memory at the moment. its been along time, since the last time.

i kind of feel as if psychedelics actually make our egos go wildly out of control, thus teaching us how to gain control. growth is brought about in this way.

i've only ever had one mushrooms experience, but i did have visions. i was having no visuals whatsoever, but i was having mild visions. they were very warm, and welcoming. almost like the visions i have had on salvia, except they were brought about through an entirely different modus operandi.

it felt like i was opening doors of perception in ways that are clearly beyond this reality. i had ancient memories awakened, as well as some memories from my childhood. the ancient memories were just not from this life. very hard to explain.

still don't feel like i'm ready for dmt. it's not an easy thing to do, leave this world behind in return for complete ego loss and re-integration back into the source.
