Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone had any informationfrom their past or present and of their area on the topic of through 160mg blue oval shaped oxycontin pills. I hve read a small amount of information on these on wikipedia, and apparently they are no longer produced in the united states. It was a hole ago I read this information so I apologize if it is innacurate. I remember back when I read it I was shocked that 160mg pills were even produced. I believe if my memory serves me correctly that 'perdue pharmaceuticals' produces oxycontin. Also I believe the pills were suspended from production. I think it's crazy that such HIGH dose pills were made. For myself even one if those would make me very Ill. Well it will now because I've taken a temporary brake from oxys until my cash flow is back. So I was wondering if anyone had ever had Or now has the 160mg pills. And if so where are you that you are able to obtain these through your doctor? Also any general information on these pills would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm just a curious guy trying to pick other peoples brains and ideas to combine them with my limited knowledge to get the full picture. Haha Thanks
dude i bet you need to be damn near dying to get them from the doc. im from ohio and run into a lot of oc's and ive never seen one. that as got to be an amazing pill. i heard that Indiana has them but im not sure
as far as i know the 160mg pills were discontinued by Purdue back in like 2000 or something during the heyday of celebrity oxy addiction in the media. Back when MJ and Rush Limbaugh and all those big name fucks got addicted to oxy and the media flipped shit and started running stories about how oxycontin was the devil, I remember CNN found out about the 160mg tablets and ran a story about how stupid and dangerous it was to even have pills that strong on the market. Purdue defended itself for a while and held a press conference saying that the dose was for people of larger size who were unable to get relief from lower doses since therapeutic doses depend largely on your height and weight. Also, Purdue claimed, these large dose tablets were useful for those on chronic opiate therapy who had reached a very high tolerance. This way, Purdue said, these poor men and women (they named typical cases as long term cancer sufferers, those with severe and untreatable nerve pain, and other such chronic, usually terminal conditions like huntington's corea syndrome, lou gherig's disease etc) would have to either take many many pills a day making it more likely that they might make a mistake with their dosing, and more likely that they would be unable to obtain their prescriptions from a single pharmacy... In other words, Purdue said that the 160mg tablets made life easier for many people who were in serious pain. The media backed off a bit after that, because who wants to say "who cares about all those people with cancer and terminal, painful conditions" in the media right? But after another year or two with several publicized overdose deaths that involved 160mg tablets Purdue pulled them from the market, whether on their own initiative or because of pressure from the FDA i'm not sure. Either way, finding these pills is extremely rare these days. Or at least that is what one would think. The only thing I don't know is whether they have been put back on the market now that Purdue has regained its full patent for Oxycontin. I have heard reports of 160's being prescribed to people, and heard rumors (you know, friend of a friend's girlfriend's mother's sisters, former roommate's dealer) that people were selling them on the street, but of course I've never seen one except in pictures. So who knows. All I know is that if i took one of those I'd incredibly fucked up for an entire day. and it would be amazing to snort one of those because there would be hardly any fillers. The higher up you go on the OC food chain, the higher the ratio of drug to fillers becomes. thats why when you look at a 20 and a 40, they look the same size and you're like, weird, I have to snort the same amount of powder with a 20mg pill but I only get half as high... So you could just cut a piece off one of those 160's and rail it and get fucked up and i bet it would have fully half the amount of powder you'd have to snort if you were using an equivalent smaller dose pill. Ah, we'll see. Maybe it'll come back.
I was lucky enough to come across the 160mg pills at Bonnaroo in 2003. It was one of those "right place, right time" deals. I believe the dude had 30 of them and at that time I was new to opiates but I was not dumb enough to pass up paying 50 dollars for one of them. It was great.
^Wow....50 bucks... thats less that 30cents per milligram... what a deal. Nice work man. I had a situation like that, although not Bonnaroo and not 160's. I am going to start a thread about "luckiest or most coincidental hookups/scores" -V
Wow thanks everyone. Especially you V. Really interesting stuff. I can see how Purdue would want to defend themselves and when I think of the arguments you mentioned that they put fourth they are valid. Thts just annoying for us responsible drug users and of course for the poor people who suffer from chronic illnesses that celebritys are ridiculous with drugs. That's the problem when you have crooked doctors and rich celebrities. I think Perdue should bring them back. Not neccesarily from the drug user point of view but they ARE a definite plus for people who are in need.to stop them taking incorrect doses and for ease of access amongst other things. It's upsetting that the media had this kid of affect. I recall when they labeled oxycontin as the devil and all about how terrible the drug was. Overall though the vast majority of people who have oxys are perscribed them for legitimate medicinal reasons. (or so I hope) Anyway, I'm going to look up more information. Thanks for contributing everyone so far. P.S. At the idea of 'crazy and coincidental hookup' thread I'm really excited for. Should be great. Haha
yea V that sounds like a good thread to start im sure we all have some "right time right place" stories
haha, i was jus trying to find this info out yesterday on the net! it was of no help at all, but i am under the impression that they still make them in canada.. and uk? i think
really? wow I hope you are right, and I can see why that would be the case. Its just the stupid FDA in this lame ass country that prevents pharm companies from making drugs just because stupid people take them and die. if they still make them somewhere I will get my hands on one eventually! That phrase "if its the last thing I do" seems appropriate here in more ways than one...
Nope... off the shelves in all countries as of 2002 I think it was... maybe 2001? Unfortunately. But then people would be charging massive amounts for em anyways so maybe its a good thing.
Yeah. I live in NJ, USA but at this time I am in the UK visiting my family before I have my next semester of classes. They no longer have the 160mg pills here and haven since around the date that Twizz mentioned. As for Canada I do not know. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
