styling your dreads

Never really tried it before. but yesterday I flat-ironed the otherwise curly tips, and I must say I looked like a fucking killer, I was a rockstar last night.

Not gonna make a habit of it but the change was mad fun. Considering I've had essentially the same hair style for the past 9 months.

 

Hmm you make a good point. The reason I loved the way my hair looked when I first had it done was because it was so straight. Ever since my first wash my hurrz been a kinky/curly mess. Maybe I shall try this some time. . .

 

I was thinking about that last night, because my dreads are mad curly because A, they are loose, and B, well, Ive got curly hair. I figured theyd look great and more dread-like if the were straighter...but I packed away my flat iron in storage for moving -_-
(oh, and half the reason I wanted dreadlocks is to never have to straighten my hair again!)

 

Well straightening the tips shouldn't take much more then 5-10 minutes

I think it would be worth doing once and awhile

 

yeah it took like 5 mins and looked cool, I had packed my flat iron away too and unpacked it the other day. I didn't style my hair much even before I had locks but it's fun sometimes.

I originally just wanted to straighten it to see how long they were.

 

I slept on my dreads weird, and the right front side was all curly, while the left was straighter. So needly to say, I flat ironed some of the right ones to even it out, and I enjoyed it. :]

 

^^when I do that I just splash water in my hair to bring the curls back.

 

ya one time i put mousse in my loose hairs and spelled the words 'harsh barnacle' around my head.

it was rad

 

there's a lot of paint in my dreads. I noticed this when I straightened them.

 

Hmm... sounds like fun, zilla.

 

my sisters did that to my hair a couple weeks ago. it looked horrid! so flat and lifeless, and unnatural. I suit crazy bedhead hair and hateee straightening :ack2:

I do put my dreads up in a bun knot thing at work and when I take them out I get crazy kinks everywhere,depends on my mood if I like them or not.

 

My dreads started off straightening my spiraly curls, which I loved, but now the spirals are back, and my dreads are curling. AArghh.
