it has been far too hot here in SE Texas for me to go barefoot. The air temps have been 103-106F for the last 5 days, sunny - not a cloud in the sky and there is no relief in site. the asphault is really hot, soft a tacky in places and even concrete is really hot.
hell i live in the mojave desert and it gets that hot here my neice and nephew go barefoot all the time--they run on rocks and brambles in the desert heat --i looked at there feet and its like they have built in moccasions--im i tenderfoot myself so i feel your pain but the next generation doesnt have that problem---so now i trip on charities that give away cheap shoes-- i know the people dont kneed them cas there feet are calloused--i think its a rip off to get the people feeling sorry for "THE KIDS" can u cook an egg on the sidewalk thats really hot and ashphalt is a different story it holdt the heat longer and hotter--switch to flip flpos--jus a suggestion Peace
still fricking hot, but it does look like a cold front is on its way, temps down into the low 90's LOL I was stationed at Edwards and remember how hot it got during the summer in the mojave. thats cool about the neice and nephew, glad the next gen is so open.
The hot sand on the beach burnt the bottoms of my feet last weekend. And I always thought my feet bottoms were as tough as leather.
I'm not looking forward to arriving in Kuwait. I've got myself nicely acclimatised to the hottest weather the UK has to offer (what's laughingly called summer here) although to be fair this year it's been pretty hot at times. But I do know that that's nothing compared to what you get in the middle east. In fact I don't think very many places do compare to the middle east. On the other hand, come winter I'll be going barefoot all the time and it probably won't drop below 15 Celsius even in the middle of January. But I think in August and probably September as well it'll be far to hot to stay outdoors for more than half an hour, never mind walk barefoot around town all day. Night times may be better though. And maybe, just maybe, by the time it gets really hot again I might be in with a fair shout of handling it, at least for a little while.
This all sounds alien to me. Yes, in Maine the asphalt sometimes gets too hot but I don't spend a lot of time there, and I move around a lot when I have to be on asphalt. But there's all the wonderful surfaces that aren't asphalt? Is it too hot to barefoot on those, too? Of course, I not only live in Maine, but I'm coming out of a spring that's cool even by our standards.
arg, we can't catch a break. it has been 104 for the last 3 days and the forcast is for temps to be 101-103 for at least the next 7-10 days. in the early morning it is only 80F, so it makes it bareable (pun intended) @spruce the hotest part of the day, the dead/dry grass and bare dirt/turf are too hot to stand on for any length of time, even the cement driveway can get too hot.
