A friend and I were interested in going on an extended weekend getaway somewhere in the west colorado area (colorado springs ish) or northeast new mexico (Taos area) to go camping in the wildnerness. We would prefer a very secluded spot. I dont know much about camping areas down there but i would like to be around mountains and in kind of a desert climate. We are both from kansas city and dont want to drive more than 12 hours away (taos is the farthest). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about some secluded (and beautiful) places we could camp at?? PM if you like..Thanks!
This year in the Colorado mountains it is nowhere near desert conditions, way to much moisture. What kinda vehicle do you own?
i have a 91 honda accord...it seems to be in ok condition...just really old and suffers from the occasional 'not starting for any particular reason' thing... why? I mostly just want a secluded campground in a different climate than my own..
If you had a four wheel drive vehicle or one with higher clearance I could recommend quite a few beautiful camp locations.
I stumbled onto one just outside of Chama, N.M. last year. There are some beautiful spots down there, I usually just poke around on the forest roads till I find a good spot. Not sure how far I would go down those roads with an accord though.
