I'm reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas right now. It's a chase of the "american dream" haha, to get money of course, and to experience a ton of drugs. Mescaline, acid, ether, pot, cocaine, you name it, on a trip from california to las vegas.

Hah yeah, that's an awesome movie. Johnny Depp does an amzing job potraying Hunter S. Thompson. It's based on Hunter's book "Fear and Loathing". The book has a slightly different story, and I suggest you check that out too.

    1. im not sure thats the american dream thompson was looking for.
    2. the actuall american dream they find is a sleezy hotel where dope dealers hang out.
    3. has anybody heard of the RUM diary's movie? i have heard from somewhere that Depp is supposed to star in that as well, when it comes out. i havent heard anything else about it.

(i cant wait to see Depp play willy wonka!!)

i read some of the rum diaries and wasnt really interested, well not likei was in fear and loathing. so i wanna see how they make it into a movie, the directing will be really important to the film, do you know the director by any chance?

no its more of a prequel than anything else. depp is playing it but theres not really any drug use from what ive heard. but hunter is interesting enough to me where you don't need em to enjoy his movie

    Whatever all you noobies.

Depp plays Raoul Duke, not Hunter S. Thompson.
If you really want to see what Hunter S. Thompson is like, either buy the official documentary = www.breakfastwithhunter.com
Or rent Where the Buffalo Roam, where Bill Murray plays Hunter S. Thompson, he does a great job I may say as well.

Raoul Duke is the name of a character that Hunter Thompson wrote about. Fear & Loathing is a VERY exaggerated version of something the Good Docter did. Rum Diaries is not a prequel OR sequel. It's a completely different story.Johnny Depp is playing Paul Kent or Kemp or something similar to that. I would say that Rum Diaries is more realistic if you think of it as portraying Thompson and his life. There isn't as much drug use as Fear & Loathing (if any at all but I doubt it will be cut out completely) but there is lots of drinking!!
I think the only ones who will see this movie and like it are the ones who understand and appreciate gonzo journalism and Thompson's style. A lot of people like Fear & Loathing for the drug use but miss the messages that he tries to instill in people.

and to the person who wants adrenochrome (sp?).. you realize someone has to be killed or commit suicide for it to be active. Even if you didn't have to see it done, would you really take a chemical that was gouged out of a persons adrenaline gland as the die?
