Hi all, If any of you have a couple good card/board game ideas for 2 players I wnt to hear them. I live somewhere with long winters and don't really get into the whole TV/video game thing. Anyway, its hard to find good 2 player games and we need somemore. Thanks,
Mastermind is a fun code-breaking game for 2 people. It's technically a board game I guess. Scrabble and Boggle are both great vocab games for 2. Settlers of Catan is an awesome board game, but I'm not sure it would be great with 2. Worth a try, though. I've got a good board game for 1-8 called Arkham Horror that's based on H.P. Lovecraft's horror stories. 3-5 is probably the optimal player count but it's worth mentioning because I'm sure it would still be fun with 2 and it takes a pretty long time to play. Gin Rummy is a favorite 2-player card game of mine. I've been a hobby gamer for most of my life and I'd recommend a few of the games I've gotten into over the years to a couple casual players. Magic: the Gathering, for example, gets a bad rap sometimes, but 2 $10 decks are all it takes to have a lot of fun. Yahtzee could be a pretty good choice.
I have a language game for you. Everyone (you two) put words into a bin. All the words relate to a topic you choose together. Each paper slip has one word on it (or a phrasal verb). When you've got about 100 paper slips, start playing. Take turns drawing cards from the deck and following the instructions on the card. Maybe you'll have to draw a random word and do something with it. There are more than 700 different activities in the game altogether. You can play it with your partner, or you can play alone; you can play for five minutes or you can play for five days. Send me your email address, and I'll send you the file.
