I heard about this on a Canadian news channel this evening. A private Canadian company named ‘Odyssey Moon’ may be the next to send a vehicle to the surface of the moon. They are going to do it with the hope of obtaining the ‘Google Lunar X prize’. Although this will be an unmanned voyage, the equipment, and team are all Canadian. They will be landing the vehicle on the surface, then apparently a smaller vehicle will come out of the first one, drive around for a bit and take some pictures to feed back to the team. I’m not sure if the vessel will actually be returning to Earth however. They hope to eventually offer private trips to the Moon and say they could potentially be the first to shuttle food to people who will be staying there. They also claim their voyage and the private trips they eventually hope to offer citizens could and will be 10 times cheaper than those of NASA. If you know any more about this feel free to add.
Well, except this guy, Jay Honeycutt He's the President of Odyssey Moon, Odyssey Moon Of the 19 teams entered, i would bet on Odyssey Moon too. Google Lunar X Prize Sadly enough, the USA is just over a year away from it's last Shuttle Program Mission July 29 2010 STS-134
Oh, I had heard the vehicle was going to be unmanned. I'll have to read more about it I suppose. Thanks for the links.
