pre employment & random drug tests

Last week I started a new job and at no time during the interview process or anything did they mention anything about a drug test. However on my 1st day I was filling out all these forms and one of them was this whole packet on drug testing and their policies (although it was one of those generic ones that are handed out to any company that drug tests) & I had to sign this thing that said I consented to a pre-employment drug test & possibly random drug tests as well. I don't really care b/c as of now I would most likely pass a piss test. However at some point I'm gunna wanna smoke. I've worked at places before that say they drug test & I never was. What sucks is I can't even really ask anyone at work about it b/c everyone is @ least 20 years older than me & I would literally shit myself if anyone of them smoked. So if you were in the same situation what would you do? My plan now is to just wait a few weeks to see what happens. In fact I would almost rather get tested sooner than later just b/c as I said right now I don't really have to worry about anything. And it's just a part time job which I'm just going to be at until I find a full time job.

 

If you have already started, there is a good chance you will only get tested if you have an accident at work, then by law they will have to for workers comp.

Those tests are expensive and I find many companys will avoid the expense if they can. You probabley seemed like a good guy, not the type that uses drugs, so they decide not to test you.

Plus it is allot of hassle for them to find a good worker, as long as you show up and do your job right, you give them no reason to want to get rid of you. Many places are getting more 420 friendly. Some bosses really don't care.

I have had the same thing happen, told there was a piss test, and never got it. I've even had my boss tell me to take an extra long lunch because he dosn't want to give me a random UA, lol.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about an on the job accident since I just sit in an office all day. So basically unless I somehow hurt myself or someone else w/ a pen or my phone it's all good. And it's also a small company so, as the person above said I doubt they would foot the bill for a random test. And so far everyone loves me so thats good.

 

actually Purp, this was one of the best one of "these threads" that ive seen, and i have been having search button troubles lately so i am willing to forgive. plus you've made it 'his type' which is just feeding into prejudice. "don't be hatin" as they say.

for some reason your post seemed unnecessarily mean, even if it wasn't meant that way. but thats just how it came across to me, and i might be considered a tad sensitive

 

My store does drug test, but only for workers comp if ya get hurt.

 

I think ppl bitching others to search pisses me off more than a person that doesn't search.

OP- I don't think you have much to worry about, especially since you say you're keeping it until you find something more serious

 

thats why i make jokes out of it, but for the really stupid "how do i make a pipe" ones or whatever, the threads that you could find a repeat of on the second page or whatever.
first take a button, lose it, then search for the button, then smoke out of it.

i just try to be witty i guess. but my search button is broke at the moment like i said, all i get is a database error.
