Because stoners are mostly peaceful, mellow, happy people. Drunks are usually angry.

I dont see how addiction is cool either way, but i suppose alcoholism is probably alot more destructive. Plus stoners have that rebel image for breaking the law, where as booze is just part of the status qou.

That's a romantic view of marijuana but very far from the truth, I believe.

Just another stereotypical issue I guess. Although overall I believe alcoholists cause a bit more trouble and disturbance in the neighbourhood.

Edit: and a stoner isn't per definition addicted.

 

1. because pot doesn't destroy your liver
2. because alcohol poisoning is more lethal than THC poisoning
3. more people in this style of community have had bad experiences with alkies.

 

Thats a good point, but i wasnt really sure how to touch on it because if we're not using "stoner" in an addiction sense but rather a prefence sense, then its popularity compared to alcoholism seems obvious.

 

I didn't know for certain if the OP ment alcoholists or just people who like to indulge in alcohol every now and then, cause they're not necessarily addicted neither of course!

 

Because Cannabis helps you and alcohol destroys you...

Because Cannabis is cure for many diseases...

Because studies suggest it is safer to drive high than drunk...

Because Cannabis doesn't make you feel sick tomorrow...

Because Cannabis isn't causing harm to your bran...

Because Cannabis high is much deeper...

Because stoners don't lay in mud with shitty pants...

Because you cant OD on cannabis...

And because alcohol is one of worst drugs ever in any way.. And now all studies showed it so everyone have to face it..

 

I just think it's because it's a "hippy" forum, and the stereotypical "hippy" is a stoner.

I have seen otherwise.

 

People don't talk about how their dads used to get high and beat the shit out of their moms or rape their sisters in the night. They don't talk about their cousins getting too high at a party and gang-raped by a bunch of high frat boys while they were passed out. They don't talk about people getting high and cheating on their spouses or getting unwanted pregnancies.

I'm not saying the stuff doesn't happen...it might, I suppose. But it doesn't happen enough for any of it to be a cliche. In fact, if any of that happened, I'd be shocked.

I know, for myself, that I've been in situations where I was high where I had the self-control to not cheat on my girlfriend, where if I'd been drunk or possibly even just sober, I would have given in.
