sadly enough, it seems to be common viewpoint with many parents.

To me, it's not alternative, it's the norm, and I couldn't imagine it any other way. ;)

I was just thinking about this as I was searching for the forum. lol Sometimes I do feel like I live in alternative universe by having children. :)

sometimes it feels like it. it separates you from your "old" friends who are still single and childless. they quit coming around b/c they just feel like they have nothing left in common with you b/c they are still out partying it up while you're at home changing diapers and having family dinners watching sponge bob.

LOL! I've wondered about this too... I finally decided it must be because not everyone here is a parent? Kind of like not everyone here has dreads or goes barefoot.

But I've gotta agree. Sadly enough, I've seen too many parents that feel parenting is alternative too. (sigh) Makes me wanna cry.
    love,
    mom

At least you and the barefoot guys are on front page. The dread forum (which is crazy active) is lumped into a sub-forum with sewing and fiber arts. :p

I barefoot as often as possible too ;) Seems most of my interests fall under "alternate lifestyles" on this forum.

Aren't dreads a sort of fiber art? Sure it's a human fiber, but I can almost kinda-sorta see the connection ;) heehee!

    love,
    mom

You know, I've always wondered why this was here... kinda makes you think about how homosexuals feel about being in 'categories'.

Personally... parenting is normal, if it wasn't life would deplete in about 100 years.... parenting and creating children is a must keeping the human race around.
