Ok so has anyone picked this book up? It is by Mark Z Danielewski. A very good read, full of codes, hidden messages, and if you've ever heard of Poe she is the author's sister and if you have ever heard "hey pretty" the song narration is taken from a part in the book. He also has a crazy way of writing. I love it!
Currently reading through this, it was going okay and then I hit the first really fucked up layout part and it's horrible trying to make sense of it all. I found the message A FACE IN A CLOUD NO TRACE IN THE CROWD. What do I win?
I read it. As much as any one person can actually "read" something like that. Interesting concept...but I still think Post Modernism is a bit drab and dry. I prefer a good solid story anyday!
it was pretty good the crazy layout made me want to read it did anyone catch that you can replace the word "house" with "life" almost throughout the whole book?
My favorite part was all the footnotes and everything. The actual story of the book was a cool concept (house is infinitely bigger on the inside) but it didn't seem to work very well. Not to mention he totally leaves you hanging. But all of the footnotes written by Johnny were pretty interesting and funny.
Am I the only one who enjoyed Zampano's analysis more than Johnny's footnotes? It was the story of the house that really drew me in, so I was always interested to find out what happened with the explorations, etc. It's really insanely fucked up. While frightening, Johnny's insanity pales in comparison to the total mindfuck of the house.
burn though it til something better turns up,, or hehe conserve your own manuscripts til they mature...
Okay, I smoked it. There's now a labyrinth growing out of my living room. I'm going to smoke some more.
