So maybe its just me who is left with the love for Harry Potter, but who else is psyched to see the new movie.
Oh my god!! I was excited for a long time, but recently i drove 14 hours across the states... and i watched every harry potter movie... and now im nearly bursting of excitement. However, im not looking foward to after i see it, knowing that its done forever...
noela, there's still the two movies for the Deathly Hallows. I am so excited for Half Blood Prince. I'm reading through the book this week over again.
Yeah, so noela inspired me.. and today a couple buddies and I are watching all the harry potter movies.. haha. A few of us pooled our money together and went out and bought the 5 disc set with all of em.. Gonna lay around today and watch them all. Fun!
Think it starts next week here in Oz. Have to wait til school holidays are over to see it. My 4yo goes to preschool and I can see the "scary" movie. I like Harry Potter movies more than my 16yo who admits to feeling "meh" about it, but will come see it with me. Twilight is more her thing.
All of them except for the first 3 sucked compared to the books. prisoner of azkaban had the best direction, but it was so far off what the book was like, and the last 2 movies, they probably cut out 60% of what actually happens, I just can't enjoy them. I might check it out just to see how they handle the 'death' scene.
Apparently, they made this movie super dark, in the theme of the book. I'm seeing it in like, two hours. I can't wait.
I waited in line to see a midnight show (wearing a cape and carrying a toy magic wand full of glitter that I found when we were cleaning for a garage sale, no less). The line might have wrapped all the way around the theater, but it was devoid of kiddies at that late hour as I'd hoped. Most of the people seemed to be about my age. I've always felt a little privileged to be in the age group that was Harry's age when the first book came out. I'd hazard a bet that no one in that crowd of hundreds went home disappointed. The Halfblood Prince is easily my favorite film of the series. It takes the best elements from it's predecessors and applies them to what is probably the smoothest book adaptation to date. The dark tone that was adopted in Prisoner of Azkaban after Chris Columbus stopped directing has been ratcheted up (to the point that I can't help but feel a little smug about the kids watching it right this instant all across the country who are doubtless scared a little out of their wits). The incredible tension is tempered by some of the most amusing and touching character scenes the series can boast. The balance is nothing short of incredible in this reviewer's opinion and at times it's hard to believe that the director of Order of the Phoenix came back with this superb movie. Every actor in the film knows their character in and out by now, and it definitely shows. The 3 young leads pull off their best performances to date, and the same can be said of Michael Gambon as Dumbledore. Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy takes full advantage of his chance to communicate his character's depth in the storyline that gives him the most screen time. Again, this seems to be the smoothest adaptation yet, but the ruthless editing that you may or not be used to by now returns by necessity. The first few chapters go by in a blur, but anyone not looking forward to each and every scene should be impressed by how the flow and continuity are maintained by the slick screenplay. (teeney, tiny SPOILER) The big battle in Hogwarts at the end of the book is all but completely omitted, which is too bad considering it was the movie's only chance to match the amazing magic duel at the end of the 5th film. Including the details of the whole fight would have stretched it much further than the final 153 minute run time, however, and again it is impressive how little impact the change has on the flow. (end spoiler) I'll be going again with my family in a few days and I can hardly wait to see it again. The film series has had its ups and downs, and now it returns with one of the best films I've seen in the last year. I can't recommend it highly enough. I strongly suggest seeing a late show when the talkative tots are safely tucked away in bed and you can leave the theater and look at the night around you with a sense of foreboding and wonder that only a film of this caliber could instill. Did I mention it's really dark?
Just saw it. Not a whole lot of content for a 3 hour movie. But had a few real funny parts. No spoilers from me though.

omg have you seen how much money these movies have made! like omg! http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA6671416.html so far all the movies have made like 4.5billion dollars.. that could end world hunger lol! but what is Random House? they're doing stuff for Michael Scott’s The Alchemyst, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon, Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass and Jan Bozarth’s Fairy Godmother Academy. i've seen stuff for The Golden Compass and The Fairy Godmother academy and they look like great books!
I thought it was outstanding with just the right mix of awkwardness and sexual tension so common among adolescents Hotwater
I thought it sucked. Why have Jinny hide the potions book? Doesn't that make it hard for Harry to find the diadem of Ravenscroft which is a horcrux impossible later on? And why burn the burrows? So that they could play with their special effects at the expense of the story. Where do they plan on holding the wedding in the next book which is intregal to the story. They made Lupin and Tonks look like amateurs when they are skilled Aurors. No funeral for Dumbledore, no battle? And the whole Pheonix thing absolutely underplayed and badly animated. Without the battle it looked like the deatheaters just marched in unchallenged to do their dirty work. This book was supposedly all about horcruxes and Snape, but the movie was all about teenage love sickness and Quidditch. Whoever directed this film never read the books. The soundtrack was heavy handed. And we never really heard the Williams theme ever played completely. Which has tied all the films together. It looked like a series of trailers compiled into a senseless mess focussed simply on glorifying it's special effects. Scene transitions didn't exist. Just cut to the next glorious special effect. I was hugely disappointed. I guess JK sold out and doesn't care what they do to her books any longer. If this director makes the last two films I am probably not going or purchasing the dvds.
I can't believe this section is talking about Grand Torino, and no one but me has a ngative reveiw of the new Harry Potter?
I've always thought these films were a wasted opportunity. I can't really comment though as I have not read the books. If this is the best that can be dragged from them... I won't bother reading them.
