Okay...This one is incredibly hard. There are so many awesome punk rock songs out there so I will do my best. 20) Less Than Jake- The Ghosts Of You And Me 19) Blink 182- Carousel 18) Senses Fail- One Eight Seven 17) My Chemical Romance- Im' Not Okay (I Promise) 16) Silverstein- November 15) Underoath- Reinventing Your Exit 14) Brand New- The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows 13) AFI- Death Of Seasons (I don't know about this one) 12) Lagwagon- Burn 11) Green Day- Hitchin' A Ride 10) Rancid- Time Bomb 9) Green Day- Brain Stew 8) Nofx- The Brews 7) The Clash- Should I Stay Or Should I Go? 6) Circle Jerks- Wild In The Streets (don't know about this one either) 5) The Ramones- Blitzkrieg Bop 4) Bad Religion- 3) The Clash- White Riot 2) Bad Brains- I Against I 1) The Sex Pistols- Anarchy In The U.K.
even though i like the sex pistols, anarchy in the u.k. isn't (in my opinion) the best punk song ever.
exactly, just add those and the list will give you the general outlook of your average teenager on "punk rock".
Pink Floyd-Dogs ok, their not exactly punk, but you got that kinda vibe from that album. they toatly bitch slapped Corprate CEOs
The Clash's Lost in the Supermarket should be on a list somewhere. It doesn't rock real hard, but it has a great punk sensibility.
what about sheena is a punkrocker? that's fucking punk i think pennywise ought to have one up there too. they're tight and fast, and they're my idea of the ideal skate punk band, if there is one.
This song pretty much defined pop punk in the 90s...why would I be kidding you...maybe Carousel doesn't deserve to be that high..I guess it needs to be number 30 or 31
...Blink 182 is punk rock?? Since when? And Rock the Casbah isn't a great song. I don't listen to punk but I have a Clash album that's really good but not too many people have heard of it...it's called "Give 'Em Enough Rope." I think the best Clash song is "Safe European Home", it's really fun.
Yeah, I was slapping myself over that. Wtf???!?!?!?!? Like, I'm gonna go listen to some Good Charlotte & Avril Lavigne now. I'm a punk!! I wear a man's tank top!!!
Not all of you, but it seems as though most of you have a very scewed opinion of what PUNK is! As a matter of fact, I really wouldn't consider any of those songs on the list good punk songs. And I would barely consider any of those as punk bands. The closest you come to punk is the sex pistols. Nice try though. All of those bands that you named are the wrapped up, ready-for-sale corporate idea of punk music.
I guess its clear that we can't all agree on what "punk" is. It means something different and represents something different to everybody, so rather than making a top 20 list of punk rock for everyone, how about everybody just makes their own top 20, and maybe explain why we picked some songs/bands that others might not agree with at all. For instance, I would have included The Distillers and Taking Back Sunday on that list, just because they represent something different to me than it might mean to somebody else.
You sure do listen to some terrible music, you need to get out and find your own style. You listen to what every teenager in America listens. They think that its rebellious, but its a trend. That is not punk, "Punk" rockerchris!
Hahaa...you sure told him off, Jonee. Cheers to that. Oh, do I have to say that I was being sarcastic about Good Charlotte & Avril Lavigne?
