I'm sure most would agree if they had to choose between saving/sparing the life of a 3-year old and a 70-year old, it would be a pretty easy choice. So where do we draw the line? Hell, what lines do we draw? What makes one person's life more valuable? Like in the aforementioned example, it seems obvious that a baby has more right to live than a senior. But is the same true of someone 30 & 50? Which other criteria would you use to determine worth? Or is all human life equally valuable?
No, mine is above all else, other then that, it depends on who would give me the most money. ...or if it's my own kid, my own kids come even before me.
I don't actually agree. some 70 year olds are worth more than some 3 year olds. and it's all judgment call.
definitely a judgment call, I wouldn't choose a sickly retarded three year old over a healthy 70 year old, life expectancy has went up... 70 is like the new 50 and some shit... my kids are expected to be at least 100!
This is entirely hypothetical. No one can tell. One has to live in the moment, determining the proper course of action in each instance within it's own context, and according to one's deepest instinct at that moment.
fuck deep instincts, if you're running on instincts you are taking the pussy way out. make a real decision.
if i had to choose between someone i know and some unkown person , personaly i would not give a shit about the second. if i had to choose between a child and an old person ...i don`t know, too choose the child is more logical because it have the right and chance to taste what life is, the old man has already done it. and if i had to choose between my life and somebody that i will die without...i will probably kill us both. yeah i am a fuckin` egoist.
If a white person and a black person walked unknowingly in the path of a bus and I could only save one of them, I would save the black person.
It's relative. Throw in attachment and relation, and it's a whole new ball game. I'm saving my own kids before anybody else, period. Talking complete strangers? All life is created equal, and I would make the most logical choice, including not saving either if I think it would affect the life of my family negatively(ie, if saving them would cost me my life or cripple me and prevent me from providing for my family).
Real decisions are based on instincts. Reasoning takes too long. By the time you reason, and make a decision, it's over. You the pussy You the pussy,,
What if the kid is on life support and has cancer? Would you pick that over a healthy older man? I doubt it... depends on the situation. That like me saying, would you want to buy this newer car or this older car, would you choose without details?
