Fuck Fred Durst. Rolls off the tongue nicely.
At least Fred Durst discovered Staind and Puddle Of mudd. So he did something ok.

Alice in Chains got back together. now thats news. even if the new chains sucks itll still be better than those three musical evolutionary dead ends you just mentioned in the op

I heard that James Maynard from Tool was going to be doing vocals, I don't know if that's true or not...

Is it me or did good music die with the advent of grunge and return in the late 90s when grunge went out of fashion?

Naw. Maynard did 1 gig with them as a charity type thing.
Thing have an official new lead singer/guitarist who has been touring with them and writing on a new album.

Belle and Sebastian, some of the stuff that Blur and Pulp did, Wilco (maybe), Porno for Pyros were okay, Flaming lips were okay...still nothing to go nuts about.

    Anything else?

I've lived with people in their late 20s/early 30s and perused their CD and record collection and I can tell you that all the stuff that wasn't radio popular in the 90s was shit and I can't remember any of it.

Michelle Shocked did some OK stuff, and Godspeed You Black Emperor released F#A#, but that was in the late 90s. Billy Bragg worth a mention too? Fugazi? At the Drive In?

None of it seemed to be as vibrant as stuff from other eras.

again, its you. Ever thought to look beyond the pop/alt/rock/RADIO scene ?

or in other words, you listen to jjj dont you? no wait...a community radio station.

edit: better yet, ever thought to look beyond whats right under your nose.

    Are you Aussie?

I listen to JJJ and community radio.

Surely it is reasonable to assume that anything beyond the pop/alt/rock/RADIO scene has been lost to antiquity and seeing as I was only 12 in 1996 with no job or money, I couldn't really know anything beyond the popular.

You can assure me that there was something "going on" in the underground, but I don't believe it was anything like what was going on in the 60s, 70s, 80s and now.
