Your logic is slightly flawed lunarverse.

"Mind" is not merely consciousness but also perception - that is, perception of the outside world, which consists of matter. The mind, or to be more scientific (as mind is a rather out-of-date term), nervous system, consists of matter. This is the connection between the two.

I do not like this "create your own reality" idea, it's ill-phrased and misleading. You do not create your own reality, no matter how hard that LSD tries to trick you into thinking you do. You create your own perception of reality, that is the extent of it.

The frontal lobe contains most of the dopamine-sensitive neurons in the cerebral cortex. The dopamine system is associated with reward, attention, long-term memory, planning, and drive. Dopamine tends to limit and select sensory information arriving from the thalamus to the fore-brain. A report from the National Institute of Mental Health says a gene variant that reduces dopamine activity in the prefrontal cortex is related to poorer performance and inefficient functioning of that brain region during working memory tasks, and to slightly increased risk for schizophrenia.

    Lobotomy :)

well, this is not my logic, I'm just recycling material,
As for the 'create your own reality' part I disagree. I think we do, although I wouldn't know what significance LSD has to do with it.

You simply don't understand what we're talking about or you're drunk. What yert said was very straight forward and relevant.

Personally, I'm trying to get lunarverse to understand how mind might arise as a result of matter (or how it might arise within matter, as matter) so that he can make a more educated decision about the mind/matter problem, instead of buying into rigid ideas such as "matter can't exist without mind". If you've ever read anything by descartes, kant or their adversaries (the materialists) you'll know that the subject and the questions that arise from it are ridiculously complex and will always give rise to such big, sweeping discussions.

I'm talking about your description of the material. I haven't read the actual material, you didn't provide a link. So all I have to go by is what you said.

Tell me why you think we create reality as opposed to perceive it in a way that's more logical than my argument for the opposite and I'll gladly reconsider. But I'm more inclined to believe in science than outdated philosophy.

lol at yr either/or, try neither.
what I understand is that this is the same shit spewed out of vox boxes since the beginning of time, none of you are onto something, and none of it matters.

so what happens when lunarverse understands?
    then what?
(btw descartes and kant are dead)

If the mechanism underlying mind (and everything else) is simply the relationship of interactions between unconscious atomic particles, then we could assume that there is no such thing as free will.

To put it more simply: If a ball was blown off the top of a flight of steps, would you say that ball had free will? If the brain is simply a result of physics, just like the ball falling down the steps, could you then say that it has free will?

well I thought mine was pretty decent.

I'm saying we do not create reality, we create a perception of reality. reality exists in and of itself. like a blueprint for a building that an architect draws vs how one might draw the same building while standing in front of it. perspective vs ultimate reality. truth vs Truth.
