Yes, but its fun to try. If you like I can go get a sixpack, stop trying to understand and join you in laughing at people?
and why be negative and accusatory? what do you have to defend? I've laughed at no one, and I'm not drunk. Why do you perceive my statements like this? I'll stay out of your way in this case, sorry.
I'll take it back as far as scientific theory allows. It's all a result of some irregularity in the big bang that caused everything to not be completely evenly dispersed. One of my theories is that the big bang was completely symmetrical but our planet / solar system's equivalent is on the other side of the universe, billions of light years away. So at this point it's not even an approachable option to see or experience this twin solar system.
why? implying that it's all meaningless so I should go lay in bed? but then laying in bed is just as meaningless as living a productive life. it's all personal meaningless preference. might as well do whatever you wish to do. and it's true I'll die.
nah, that was just my response to what you said. a reflection of your attitude. but I say you should take on the world, seize the mathafackin day geodude!!
maybe I'll try that when I evolve... my problem is that I have so much stuff do to that I end up doing nothing at all.
I thought you said you were drunk? Or am I thinking of somebody else? I guess saying things like "you guys talk in blocks and blocks and say nothing" is kind of negative and accusatory in a sense, is it not? Also, I wasn't being aggressive. I was kind of agreeing that it really is all bullshit and that maybe I was better off getting drunk with you (which it now appears you are not drunk ) and talking about something else. It is still fun to talk about though.
yeah, lots of people find it great fun sometimes I do too no I'm not drunk I don't want to nitpick but I didn't say you guys say nothing, you all say lots I just said nothing is explained and by that I meant that this thread will end the same way it started with everyone housing a different opinion and all the questions left unanswered
who cares if we never answer the questions? I learn something new every time I have a discussion like this with another well-informed and interested person (which sadly doesn't seem to be happening here). It is a journey, and it's exercise for the brain.
Maybe not just delve into Metaphysics, but delve into things like Neurology, Neurochemistry, Neural nets - how the brain learns, how each part of the body that deals with perception works. There is not just the conscious and subconscious mind, your senses, eyes, ears even smell touch and taste are calculating things about your environment way too fast for your conscious mind to ever pick up, a lot of interactions between humans rely on stuff your conscious mind never picks up. Then there is trippy consequences to not all humans being the same, irrespective of diseases or birth defects, not all humans can hear at the same range, not all humans hear the scream of a 4 year old girl the same way, or hear the same thing when Barry White is played. Different people's visual cortex works at diffenet rates, so a jet doing mach 2 will look diferently to different people, they way a rainbow looks will look differently, the flap of a hummingbirds wing etc. And then there is smell, differnet peoples pheremones will work differently on different people, different people of the same gender have vastly different body odour. Different people will react differently to scents, other animals, differnet scents will trigger different memories (poistive or ngeative) which can be a big influence on mood and behaviour. So mind vs matter is really 6 Billion plus minds vs the infinite different perspectives of matter
I'm in it for the long haul zilla and so I never learn anything new from conversations like these anymore hence my cynicism oh well, I shouldn't be negative though. carry on next time I'll happily come well-informed and interested
Heres a link to book on the internet that could help with this. http://www.integralbook.com/Watts, Alan - the book on the taboo against knowing who you .pdf
I know this shit. Why do you think I do things like eat pizza, go camping and (try to) have sex? Because they're fun and you don't need to know about the universe to do them.
The issues are so complex that we have to put forth a lot of effort to make baby steps, but it's in the pursuit of truth and years from now people will be thankful that we devoted so much brain power to it. I think progress is being made, you just think it's worthless because you don't see the answers in the very near future.
And as for free will, one would have to be conscious of what the subconscious mind is doing to actually have free will. You got bitten by a dog when you were 2 years old, and you dont really remember, go through life not really keen on dogs, you dont know why. You get married have kids, the kids get to preteens - "Daddy, can we get a puppy?". You say no, cos you dont like dogs, thinking thats free will in action when really the kids dont get a puppy cos a dog bit you when you were little
look at the answers we got in the past. if you find meaning in them then you'll think the future has meaning also I don't.
