Does the new sticky give RT Carte Blanche?

That's what I say when I don't want to argue with people I'm buds with when I think they have no idea what they're talking about...

And I think banning people should be solely reserved for those who never contribute anything positive to the site. For the most part I think it is... though there are times when I've heavily disagreed.

Most of the time when somebody gets a long term ban, it's lifted after about a month as long as they stay gone when they're supposed to... though I know notices aren't sent out welcoming people back so it's a tricky thing to navigate.

 

My opinion is that the fora look the same as they ever looked. Minus a couple of my fave posters, which I deem a big loss to our fragile community.

As I said, I know there have been offers to help that have been rejected, and I the moment I saw Skips sticky I said "It's on bitches" and even asked for a mod to clarify if I was misunderstanding... I never got clarification and haven't been banned for my current stance... It's not hard to see what's going on, IMO.

Yes and no. I've seen dozens of really valuable posters banned during a 'purge' (admittedly they we're asking for it) and hundreds more trash posters kept around because they know how to lay low and they keep their mouths shout when it comes to moderation issues. The more 'quality' posters that are banned, the more unbanned 'quality' posters avoid posting here, and the more trash posters seem to fill the gaps. I blame the last purge for the forum's recent trashiness.

I'm in no way implying that I am a quality poster, if that is what you are thinking.

Great members leave all the time. Sometimes by choice.. sometimes not, but they get replaced by new great members. You'll always have shit-tacular posts no matter if the old fav's leave(hide) or not. They weed themselves out. Always have, and always will.

 

I think that sums it up. The rest is a matter of sentimentality, IMO.

 

i interpret it to mean that the advertised Free Speech within these forums

is now going to actually BE free, and uncensored.

If you don't like what someone says to you,

A) put them on Ignore;

or B) don't come into RT.

Skip gave people exactly what they wanted and now I think some are realizing they didn't want it....

If he was interested in clarifying I think he would've when so many ?'s initially arose when it was first noticed.

IMO, he's obviously put thought into it, because as far as I can tell I was one of the first to notice(or atleast mention it) and that was two days after the original post date, which leads me to believe it was invisible for a bit after he created it....
