this is something i can agree with you on.

Please dont argue with me about this much more because honestly I dont know much about mind/matter and all that crap because I really had no interest in it

I agree with it being unrealistic. Although the mind can be very "out there" thinking in ways that not all people think. You "open doors" in your mind and you have better views but honestly, you'd have to be tripping to think this way so its still in a way unrealistic

It's not unrealistic at all if you read the right books, and know where to find answers to your questions. It's no more unrealistic than the thought of a 'God' or the idea of the big bang, or the thought that there is other forms of life existing in the universe.

its been so long since i read about that but i dont think I could get into it so much. Im more psychology rather than science

and about religion. I did read a philosophy book by a guy named Emmanuel Levinas and it was alright. I didnt finish it though cause of college and such

In order to get a more complete picture of the mind/matter question it might be worth checking out work by materialist authors, whose work flies in the face of everything you just mentioned. With a more scientific perspective you might be able to understand how the mind may simply arise as a product of "physics".

Most idealistic authors use their wishy washy theories to attempt to justify their belief in God. It is unrealistic IMO.

    In other words, read moar.

I have a feeling that you're a troll. Again, sorry if I'm wrong.

    Yes, uneducated.

The fact that it's in books doesn't mean that the people who are arguing for it are doing so out of a pedagogic background. All of these arguments are much more emotion than logic driven, and all in all... 99% of philosophy is complete bullshit. It's fun to think about when you're 16, but it's still bullshit... irrelevant bullshit. True philosophical questions are the ones that actually explain something in life and aren't simply based on assumptions. The whole mind vs. matter argument is infantile at best. It's fucking irrelevant.

Good job ignoring the rest of my post, idiot.

I was drunk, I drank like 7 shots in 2 hours and I don't usually drink much at all. I'm still the same person when I'm drunk, I just do everything at half speed. I had a hard time reading the other posts but I spit it out alright because I've already had a lot of these discussions and thoughts.

    It's what he does best.

BSR is right, mind vs matter is a silly argument. It's outdated and it's something people learn in high school, think is incredibly profound, and then forget to learn more modern philosophy that is much more scientific.

Is it just me or does everyone else read BSR as B.S.-er when they read the initials?
