The song Soul Serende is fucking amazing. I'm not sure the original artst but when the allman peform their 19 minute version it amazing. It's almost like 16 minute of guitar solos. I suggest downloading it. I got mine off of the Allman Brothers box set called Dreams. (Cd #3)
I don't know if it's the same song, as I've not heard the rendition you mentioned, but Aretha Franklin's version on her I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You album is great also. It has a credit for Luther Dixon/King Curtis as the composers of the song up on AMG..
The song i believe was originally done by King Curtis. The version by the Allman Brothers Band 'You Don't Love Me/Soul Serenade' was performed at a gig in New York at the A&R studios (not got the date to hand). King Curtis had been murdered a few days before, and Duane Allman , who was good friends with KC, played the tune as a tribute. And you are right the track is absolutely outstanding...but then again the Allman Brothers are the best band to have ever lived.
Must be it because at the begining he says something about the horrible thing that hapeened to king curtis.
aah... it's really good, my download and you get a 30sec. preview & it sounded great. but since it's so long you can only buy it with the album and that'd be like $20 for one song. too bad i guess.
omg i looooooooove Derek Trucks' version. he is an amazing musician. how one guy can do all that on guitar, and in open E with a slide no less!
have you tried bearshare or any other music downloading program? I absolutely love Derek Trucks version of Soul Serenade. I only have one of his cds though....I had a chance to see him live but I didn't get to go...oh well some day.
nevermind, turns out my dad has the fillmore east concert (deluxe edition), listening to it now. great guitar...
