Was that one of the many holes in Marx's predictions in The Manifesto? Are unionized workers too close to capital to be radicalized by the industrial army reserve (the unemployed)? Discuss.
i think unions are to capitalist what is needed is rank and file agitation spain in 36 was a perfect example workers who want to be radical nowdays are told no by there union leaders. example i work at a meat process plant recently we were given a pay rise of 15 cents an hour i disagreed and was agitating a strike i was told id be kicked from the union and thus fired from the company what is funny about this pay rise the union leaders never read the contract wich made the pay rise effective for only 3months....go figure
I thought of that after my post. Well, only thing is that workers become acquainted with the party through unions. I diverge from Leninism in the fact that I do not have any faith in a bureaucratic vanguard.
the fact remains capitalisim rewards some workers very well so i dont think workers will lead revolution that is for the hungry and oppressed this recession may help
It doesn't matter. I don't think you have to go hungry to develop revolutionary consciousness and practice. Otherwise, would Che go the way he did? I think the critical mass and therefore leadership has to start with workers because they are in direct contact with the means of wealth production. Alienation is not a theory to them; and once organized, they can well make the choice of risk their comfort levels to end exploitation much like the supposed vanguard does.
it all sounds good but capitalisim always beats us out by exploiting human greed... example a union delegate who is revolutionary will get offered more pay to shut up 9/10 times he or she will take it, i want workers to organize but capitalisim has idk an easier way out maybe the way to put it people are to content capitalisim plays on family issues etc..
I don't know if you understand where I'm trying to get at. Have the party, but have it so workers are its leaders. The unions should have no more say than bargaining with employers and expose members to the party. Airtight enough?
Look at the example of Brazil. There CONLUTAS is an independent worker's organizing body. I don't know if they have ties to LCP (a landless agrarian worker militia) or not. I don't see how revolutionary practice is possible without an international worker's militia.
yeah i agree we need a international workers millitia we must strike and unite all factorys and work shops across the world
