Is this a good fertiliser? A friend at work says he gets great yeilds using Ammonium Sulfate (not Nitrate). My local farm store has 50# bags for $12.00. I'm wanting somethin cheaper then miracle grow.

Its useful for what it is but it isn't a complete fertilizer, in that it only adds nitrogen, none of the other nutrients or micro-nutrients.

    Hi,

it's better to see which minerals and trace elements are lacking in your humus soil. Then buy the specific fertiliser. Just throwing some random stuff on the soil doesn't work. If it should be cheap get some manure.

    Thanks!
I wanted to verify it wouldnt kill my veggies. My soil always needs nitrogen. I want to get the plants big and green before they start fruiting.

If you apply it as recommended it won't kill your veggies, but it's best designed for lawns. Most vegetables need more p and k then it provides. And it can be very hot if you don't water it in promptly. High nitrogen will give you a flush of vegetative growth but it may not result in a larger harvest. And if you apply it around tomatos you may have lovely plants but very little fruit.

I edited out the link. Sorry, can't have links in posts.

    Peace,
