Hey. I just came up with this idea. Basically anyone who wants to can put down their favorite drug related movie and give the reason and which drug it most predominantly features. Here are my favourite drug related movies; In general my favorite film about drugs as a whole and about addiction is 'requiem for a dream'. The cinematography and castin of the characters is excellent despite it not following the novel it is based on too precisely. Trainspotting. Drug: heroin. Reason: I think thy trainspotting, based on the novel by Irving welsh, is a great movie. Ewan McGregor stars as 'renton'. The film highlights on the suffering and pain of heroin use but also has Many comedic elements to it. I'm not sure if it clasifies as a black comedy or not. Blow. Drug: cocaine. Reason: this film is just fantastic because it is based on the true story of international drug smuggler George Jung. Johnny depp is excellent in the film. The locations in which they film are stunning although I fear that they are probably all in California and they did not film in Columbia. Also the soundtrack to the film is really suiting. Pinapple Express. Drug: marijuana. Reason: it is a stoner film for the 2000s generation of smokers. The many hilarious antics of the stupid characters and the portrayal of the main character by Seth rogen is excellent. He juggles his girlfriend, job, and weed smoking habits in the film to great comedic effect. Go. Drug: ecstasy/amphetamines. Reason: although this film isn't a big budget Hollywood production it still has many real life situations of dealing with drugs. The plot is a little wild and some of the characters a little ridiculous but none the less I truely enjoyed watching this film. Fear and loathing in las vegas. Drug: LSD ( I realize that this film features a plethora of drugs but I particularly enjoyed the parts where raoul duke and dr. Gonzo were tripping. Overall it is a fantastic movie although I read that it did not do well at all upon release. Again, this film is based on the writings of hunter s. Thompson and is really comedic and accurate in terms of drug use and effects. Apart from the adrenaline or whatever it was they ate from a human. Ew. That's all I can think of at this time. Hopefully others will want to post their choices too. Peace
A Scanner Darkly The future drug! Blow Coke, im not into coke but its a great movie. I recommend you watch A scanner darkly with a sober mind, it'll trip you out if you are on something.. and not a good trip.
Alice in Wonderland drug: Shrooms. Some may not think it's drug related, but i'm going to count it as such. Plus that Alice chick has it goin' on!
Pink Floyd: The Wall Drugs: Acid, Shrooms, marijuana. Not that you need drugs to get a trip out of this film, but none the less. MUST SEE, almost life changing here. All of the Cheech & Chong Films Drugs:Marijuana, coke, acid, spiders(lol) and more! Funny, hippie and drug related. Both Harold & Kumar movies Drugs:Marijuana Hilarious. Grandma's Boy Drugs:Marijuana Really funny movie
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the greatest one for me. The film really passes on the experience of being high. average films that depict drug use and users are a bit off in their understanding how habitual drug users act. their "addictive" behavior is usually gravely exaggerated in the process of which a complete relinquishing of the mentioned individuals' will is assumed. that is then portrayed as a norm. which is not so. such extreme cases are very rare. this is why I can't take such films very seriously. Aside from that I did like Layer Cake and Requiem for a Dream, though the latter is a freaked up film.
the movie Traffic Coke heroin crack Its a really good movie, and shows how daddy's little girl can easily change into a drug loving prostitute, it really gives you a reality slap on addiction. Its real and Raw. Also shows you what happens when you traffic drugs, made you feel bad for the Millionaire House Wife. It was a great movie in my opinion.
