hi there, i have a large San Pedro cactus 25-30" and was jst wondering if there is anyway to force it to branch out. I love the look of it and essentially it means there is twice as much cactus in the end. Any ideas?

you can't really force them to branch. branching is kind of rare to see in younger san pedro and only happens with mature stands of cactus.

you could do a graft and graft another san pedro, bridgesii or peruvianus on to it.
if you did a vertical graft in the main stalk of the plant and it took well, it would look just like a branching arm coming out.

i saw a small san pedro with a branch in a bonsai nursery once. it looked kind of like a saguaro cactus. really twisted and cool looking. they were selling it for 70$ though...those Jews...

boiling may remove or damage some of the alkaloids so you are justified in your thinking.

If you haven't got really potent stuff though, that would be a ridiculous amount of flesh to consume.
