There were some parts that made me jump, but the plot was shit, and the end was the used toliet paper that wiped the ass of the shit movie. You don't have to step in shit twice to know it stinks.

--side note: hmm, wow, I said shit 3... 4 times in one paragraph--

Saw it. It had a few jumpy parts --- the theater was full of screaming, then giggling teenage girls --- I didn't think it was screaming scary, and after awhile it just died.
The ending is what killed it for me though. It's like they made the movie in scene order and ran out of money.
The most redeeming part of seeing it for me was that I was on a date with a dude I really dig! :)

I was really wasted when I saw it, so that made it pretty fun. Basically just a build-up scene with a pay off ant the end, over and over again. It was good, not great.

I thought it was a much better attempt at an adaptation than Verbinski's "The Ring"... though in the end I still prefer "Ju-On"...

i'm surpriseed no ones mentioned good old sarah micheal galler yet.

apparantly she wants to come away from her buffy role, which she isn't really doing starring in a film like this, she was basically Buffy without any speical powers, that being said the girl can act and the film gave her a chance to do some 'i'm scared shitless' scenes that Buffy never gave her.
I thought the plot was good because it was simple, and i didn't think it was predictable, although I knew how far they where going to take it after the first couple of 'scares' and knew that it wouldn't really push me, like SAW did for example.
i liked the scene in the lift where the girl is facing the other way and through the window the boy is seen on every floor, i think its disturbing scenes like this that american horror can't do, they go for gore or jumps not atmosphere.
in the end thought its not that different from other films of the genre and so i feel it is easily forgettable, but worth seeing once if you want to kill an evening

    Hi there:

I totally agree with you on this subject. This is ONE scary movie.
Not like the Ring or even not comparable to the Un-Scary Scream. This is pure horror. This movie should be categorized under the "Paranoia" horror.
B/c right after I watched the movie, I could not sleep with the lights off.
Especially when I sleep I always think twice about the blanket b/c after that scene where Matt's sister was trying to hide under the cover but instead she "Vanished."
I watched it in a theater and there was this guy sitting in the same row, he jumped several times. I just covered my eyes and my ears when it's too scary. However I am a big sucker for horror movies. Usually I don't get too scared watching any movie, but this one. Man. Talk about scary. I also watched the Japanese original version (Ju On) and I am sad to say that it sucks big time. The US version is way much better.
I can't wait to buy that movie so I can scare myself out again and again.
I checked out walmart.com sells it for $24.61 and also went to www.Pricecomparison.com and saw one place that sells it for $25, you might not even have to pay tax depending where you live.
For those who has not watched the Grudge, I recommend this movie..thanks Guys..

i know what you did last summer, buffy, scream, friggin scooby doo... i agree with samhain in way saying that this movie isn't much of a stretch for her. oddly enough i feel that she does have a large following and the reason to why she was casted was to capitalize on on her fans. but, whatever... i saw the original recently and lord was it a let down. cookie cutter ring.
