I have some hemp wraps in the "x" pattern, similar to Domikatetrix's.

What I did with my hemp turned out nice. I took a good length of new hemp string, the natural color, washed it in the washing machine (so it got ruffed up some), then dyed it with the Manic Panic color of my choice (some was Pretty Flamingo, some Electric Sunshine, some mixes of colors, etc.). I worked the dye well into the hemp string and left it sitting overnight. In the morning, I rinsed it well with cold water & hung it to dry. Came out with some lovely colors, and they stay well through hair washings. (If they fade, I just dab a bit of color onto the wrap, while it's on my hair.)

You're so welcome :) The dyed hemp is a wonderful way to add color to your dreads.

I have also bleached the hemp, then dyed it. Bleaching first will tend to give a "truer" final color (just like if you bleach your hair before using Manic Panic). Just don't over-bleach, because the hemp does break down easily.
