A huge pain in the ass. The dudes fav gloves to use are the blue medical gloves with the grip. They feel more like a second skin than the others.
What type did you use? The type I used created no mess at all.... Don't use the industrial strength but the liquid glue ones. Or perhaps its just not your style =P.
wrong...its not mail until the post office gets it...when its in your car it doesnt matter wtf..its just a package in your car until it crosses into federal custody...edit... the screenprinting industry has the best spray on adhesives
If it has a USPS stamp on it they need a warrant to open it regardless of who is holding it, pretty sure.
this may not be true for customs though I think they can open anything they damn well please. But for domestic mail anyone wanting to look at it would need a warrant. for UPS and Fedex, they can open it on a whim, although LE still needs a warrant to open it unless UPS and Fedex tell them they can (which they will). Although if you have something in a UPS or Fedex pack in your car they wont need a warrant to open it, I am pretty damn sure if it has USPS stamp on it they will need a warrant for the car and then a warrant for the package with USPS stamp as well to open that.
Normally the US Code would define a term like "mail", but it seems they assume it is obvious, or I just can't find it. The closest I could get was in the criminal code that covers "Obstruction of correspondence", 18 USC 1702. It defines what letters you'd get in trouble for stealing: for purposes of court filings "any letter, postal card, or package out of any post office or any authorized depository for mail matter, or from any letter or mail carrier, or which has been in any post office or authorized depository, or in the custody of any letter or mail carrier, before it has been delivered to the person to whom it was directed" through the prison mail system, it becomes mail when it is deposited into the system, regardless of proper addressing, proper postage or other accoutrement. regardless of when the USPS gets around to collecting the mail from the prison mail system.
Not much for precision. Sloppy and any lint or whatever is in the air will stick. Super glue works fine for me. The gel stuff gives a lil more time to make sures everything is in place.
LOL!! A couple passes along the inside flap of an envelope is MUCH less of a pain in the ass than a middle-of-the-night knock at your door. Also, I do not see how this makes a mess unless the person is spastic and can't aim a nozzle on target. Forensic analysis's wet dream? Are you saying they will be able to track you down by anal-izing the dried adhesive?? C'mon now. Not sure if Binary mentioned this but...this technique works best when you give the adhesive a couple minutes to slack(set up) before sealing. In other words don't fold the sprayed flap over until the glue is dry to the touch. Oh, and 3M Company is like the worldwide king of adhesive manufacturers, so you can't go wrong with that brand. The only other worthwhile alternative to spray glue is using a glue stick. Bottom line is whether you use spray or stick or just go with the sticky back the envelope comes with, using tape on the outside of any package is NEVER a good idea.
I like the ideas of multiple vaccuum sealed bags with bleach wash in between. If you're transporting a lot in a car, this seems like an interesting option for some models. They partitioned the gas tank off and the secret access is under the driver side rear seat. Pretty ingenious. I am not promoting the use of such a spot for illegal means. Sometimes you just don't want the wife to know about your midget porn collection and need a place to store.
Is there any truth to something that I read about them only being able to look into one later of the packaging w/o a warrant?
I believe what you're referring to is people putting a stamped, addressed envelope inside another stamped addressed envelope so that once they get the warrant for 1 name and open it they are required to get another warrant for the second envelope. I am not sure if this is true but the following will happen if it is. a) They will lie and say there was only 1 envelope b) They will be able to get another warrant with a 5min phone call if they explain the situation to the judge who issued the initial warrant. It's not true that cops can't open mail that's not in the mailstream, but is, say, in your car. Check out the "Discussion on Cops Seizing & Opening Mail that is in Your Vehicle" part here: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=364089&f=126 But is it an effective concealment technique? Probably. Would the average cop mess with (what appears to be) your mail? Probably not. I've never had a cop look twice at my mail.
