And I am not talking about the rack that I hang the clean laundry on either!

Are there any tutorials out there that would show me how I can make an apron top that will work for my large chest size? Something where the lower back is open but the band that would go around the boobage would meet for more snug support.

Heck even pictures for inspiration would be helpful.

    Thanks!

    ^lol

i find that trying to visualize what you want helps me. how do you want the front to look? straight across or like a v neck? if you want more under boob support you may have to use darts or pleats, im not incredibly endowed but i do have a fondness for gathers.
if you don't use a tie (or series of ties) in the back it might be hard to squeeze into, maybe do a tie on the outside for looks and use a bra closure for the extra support and make it adjustable. lemme jump on paint and sketch something out. this would be so much faster if i had a scanner!

Ties in the back are ok I just kind of want them to mostly meet in the middle. I think I need to stick with a straigh front. My sewing skills are not that great and I have not sewn anything in over a year. Actually my sewing skills are ok. I can whip up tunics, chemises and pants for ren faires in a matter of hours. It's patterns I do not understand. Show me how to make something with a diagram and I am ok but give me one of those awful paper patterns from the store and I will be in tears in fifteen minutes.

I think I have figured out what to do. Tomorrow I am getting a new sewing machine and I am going to pick up some cheapy fabric to play around with. I would still appreciate ideas though!

    I miss being creative!

so this is kinda what im picturing. i think a bra closure is definitely your best bet, you can get them in the notions section of the fabric store i believe. i hope that helps a little

I will have to look into the bra closures, they would probably be nice and sturdy. I could always put a decorative tie over the bra closure.

exactly, that way you get the look of the tie, but none of the insecurity! you could even do a fancy decorative bow if you wanted to, like an upholstery bow, or use/ make a giant frog closure/ turkish square knot and just use a snap to hold it. i have been meaning to make some apron tops, so this might just get me going ;)
