Ok I found this method and was wondering if anyone had ever tried this and how it worked out. Im wanting to try but im scared that something goes wrong and i get ill from this. Items needed to make hard alcohol (50% alcohol content): 1. Rubbing Alcohol that has ethanol or ether alcohol. Now, go down to the local wal-mart or some place like that and ask where the rubbing alcohol is. When you get the the rubbing alcohol section look on the back of every bottle looking for one that has ethanol or ether alcohol. If the bottle has anything else besides ethanol don’t buy it. Don’t buy rubbing alcohol that has iso-propyl!!! You might already have the stuff at home look in the medicine cabinet. Remember.....ETHANOL OR ETHER ALCOHOL ONLY!!!!!! Note: Ethanol is not dangerous to use. In fact ethanol is what is used in beer and liquer. 2. Distilled Water in a bottle (this is really cheap, but you can use tap water). 3. Empty wine bottle (You can use a plastic kool-aid container it really does not matter as long as it can hold liquid) 4. 1 tbs salt (This is for taste) 5. 6 tbs honey (This is for taste and the sugar) (Sugar makes the alcohol faster acting!) 6. You don’t have to have step 4 or 5. How to make: 1. Fill the wine bottle (or container) up 7/10th of the way with rubbing alcohol (ethanol). 2. Fill the bottle with (2/10) water. 3. Add salt and honey. (You don’t have to have to add these...just makes the final product taste better) 4. Mix and store 5. You may now drink the liquid to get very Drunk!!! Due to it’s bad taste...like every hard drink. Make cocktails with this stuff...pretend it’s whiskey. Sound to easy to be true?
Wikipedia: In the United States, rubbing alcohol, USP and all preparations coming under the classification of Rubbing Alcohols must be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the US Treasury Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, using Formula 23-H (8 parts by volume of acetone, 1.5 parts by volume of methyl isobutyl ketone, and 100 parts by volume of ethyl alcohol). It contains 97.5-100% by volume of absolute ethyl alcohol, the rest consists of water and the denaturants, with or without color additives, and perfume oils. Rubbing Alcohol contains in each 100 mL not less than 355 mg of sucrose octaacetate or not less than 1.40 mg of denatonium benzoate. The preparation may be colored with one or more color additives. A suitable stabilizer may also be added. In short, no. Don't do this.
IF you read the line before step 2 "Remember.....ETHANOL OR ETHER ALCOHOL ONLY!!!!!! Note: Ethanol is not dangerous to use. In fact ethanol is what is used in beer and liquer" This tells you to look behind the bottle and check that their is only Ethanol as an active ingredient.
I'm telling you right now that there is no rubbing alcohol you can buy at your local wal-mart that has just ethanol in the ingredients. If you do this, you could die.
Buy jug of apple cider.. add yeast and sugar... top bottle with balloon and poke pin hole in balloon.. let sit in a dark area.. do not disturb for a couple weeks to months.. you now have hard cider
^^^ lol. and... my dad brews his own beer all the time. i bottle it for him with this weird bottling device i never touch alchohol for the most part though, so i never have any.
haha, looks like I'm gonna try it. The only thing is I don't know where to keep the bottle so that no one will be able to smell it.
obviously you have no fucking clue what you are talking about... In brewing,, alcoholic fermentation is the conversion of sugar into carbon dioxide gas and ethyl alcohol.... This process is carried out by yeeast enzymes.
PS: brewers yeast would be your best option for yeast.. but you can just use plain old dry yeast.. brewers yeast will provide higher alc %
i'm not proving anything. i'm just high and wondered if anyone else did something similar. haha i'm an idiot. the "^^^ lol " was completely unrelated to everything else i said.
one of my ex gfs use to brew her own beer all the time... she had a whole setup it was pretty interesting and she made good beer
i've brewed my own beer before, and brewing cider shouldn't be all that much different, though i wouldn't add sugar to it. apples are already packed full of sugar. and yes, use a decent unobtrussive beer yeast. its more expensive but it won't make the cider taste like shit. unpasteurized apple cider will be best, if you can get it. http://www.homebrewadventures.com/s...Y&Store_Code=homebrew&Category_Code=ING-yeast a simple brittish ale yeast or a california common yeast or something similar will likely give good results. baking yeast produces very little alcohol and will give it a funny taste. for best results, once the fermentation seems to be done add just a little sugar and put CLEAN, washed, bleached and rinsed beer bottles with flip tops (like grolsh, or monschoff) and refridgerate for two or three weeks further. they should now be bubbly.
