Recently the San Diego Police Dept sent an officer to get a doctor's recommendation for marijuana. Then he called all the medical marijuana collectives in town. Anyone who helped him ended up with felony charges.

At least 5 people are taking their case to trial and are presenting a medical marijuana defense.

Supreme Court action upholds California's medical pot law By David G. Savage
    10:24 AM PDT, May 18, 2009 Washington

Justices reject appeals from San Diego and San Bernardino counties seeking to throw out the state marijuana law. Patients likely will be able to seek ID cards showing they're eligible to use the drug. The Supreme Court rejected appeals today from two hold-out counties in Southern California that object to the state's 13-year-old medical marijuana law and claimed it should be struck down as violating the federal drug-control act.

San Diego Operation Green Rx - Eugene Davidovich
    June 8th, 2009 - 8:15 AM - Department 11
San Diego Superior Court - 220 W. Broadway San Diego, CA 92101

My name is Eugene Davidovich and I have been a resident of San Diego for over 20 years. I am a medical cannabis patient and operated a non profit collective here in San Diego until last February when my house was raided and I arrested in ‘Operation Green Rx’ later announced by the District Attorney in a press conference as ‘Operation Endless Summer’.

In this operation a local San Diego Police Detective lied to his doctor about his identity and condition, obtained a valid recommendation for medical marijuana and joined the majority of the medical collectives and coops listed on the San Diego section of the CA NORML list.

The detective called me and joined the collective. While pretending to be a sick patient, he requested that I deliver medical cannabis to him. Having seen him once and provided him with a ? ounce of medical cannabis, I am now facing 4 felony charges, $65,000 bail, and permanent damage to my professional and personal life.
This was a clear and direct attempt to shut down all non profit medical marijuana collective cultivation/distribution efforts in San Diego.

Where is Jerry Brownose? Long before Oblamo's ambiguous riddle. Brown should have been enforcing prop 215. Instead of tweaking it for private enterprise. Scam DEAgo has been breaking the law and instigating other counties to join in insulting the voters of California. The Compassionate Use Act is clear enough, and yet thousands sit in cages because of reefer mad crusaders, Nixon lied and that is enough to remove Ganja from schedule#1. Nixon lumped medicinal and hemp, not included in the Un-Constitutional Reefer Madness Act of 1937 ie: Leary v. United States Marihuana Tax Act violated his privilege against self-incrimination. Enough of these tax paid renegades. We the People tell Them the Elected, not reversed, as we seem to ConPromise with DEAth lies. Appeasing the cheats and liars for their version of paving freeways to hell with greed intentions, camouflaged as "for the kids". Power Junkies and DEAth Merchants. Tax paid Universal soldiers and sailors following orders. Where's Aunuld? ~ DdC

The Tyranny of San Diego’s Operation GreenRX
If the Police Chief can attack legal protected patients, as he is doing in Operation GreenRX; if the District Attorney‘s office can tell a judge that they have arbitrary and tyrannically decided that San Diego’s ordinances and laws are invalid [which they did at the preliminary trial of Donna Lambert] without ever informing the City Council or using the legal process to go to a Superior Court or a Federal judge to get them overturned: then we have moved ever closer to an Orwellian state. continued...

This time it's not the feds. San Diego launched this lawsuit. San Diego is behind Operation Green RX, later renamed Operation Endless Summer.

Whats more, the 14 medical marijuana patients in San Diego who are currently fighting charges are fighting the District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis not the feds.

This is the same openly lesbian Bonnie Dumanis who said in 2003 “I’ve sworn to uphold the state laws and that’s what I will do. If the federal government wants to go after these people and can, there’s nothing I can do, but in this day and age of very few resources for everyone, I certainly don’t have in our office the resources to spend a lot on medical marijuana cases.”

Well it's 2009 and now Bonnie has the money to setup an undercover officer with a doctor's recommendation, a rented house, surveillance cameras, lawyers, prosecutors, and months of police time.

Bonnie Dumanis is caught in a lie at this point.

DEA RAIDS NOW IN PROGRESS CC

DEA raids are being reported at multiple locations in San Diego, from
Pacific Beach to Vista. The raids are believed to be coordinated by
local officials, such as DA Bonnie Dumanis and the local police and
Sheriff. Word is that police are targeting the businesses, not
individuals, although people on-site are being detained and handcuffed.

"I would not have the Justice Department prosecuting and raiding medical marijuana users," Senator Obama said in an August 2007 statement. "It's not a good use of our resources,"

    safeaccessnow.org

The raids continue -- when will the policy change?

On Wednesday, August 12th, officers representing seven different law enforcement agencies conducted raids in Los Angeles on two medical marijuana dispensaries and the owner’s home.

Too soon for complacency in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has recently stepped up enforcement against medical cannabis dispensing collectives in the city, and there is reason to believe that this may be the beginning of a new trend. Americans for Safe Access (ASA) is encouraging patients and providers to prepare in advance for a possible confrontation with local police. Taking some simple precautions in advance and knowing what to do during an LAPD raid can preserve your rights and keep you out of serious trouble.

The federal threat to medical cannabis is receding under the Obama Administration, and the White House and US Attorney General have signaled a willingness to create a new federal policy in comments made earlier this year. ASA is working hard to shape that new policy right now. That does not mean medical cannabis patients and providers are in the clear. There have been a handful of DEA raids this year, and local police and Sheriff’s departments may be moving to fill the perceived gap left by diminished federal activity.
