i stopped smoking herb as of last Wednesday, so this is my sixth day without smoking. I am taking a break for meditative purposes, trying to clear my head and such.

When I smoke I rarely dream. I recently took a four month break from smoking due to some major jaw surgery, but even then i rarely remebered my dreams. But the past two nights have been crazy and frustrating all at the same time.

The past two nights i have had at least 3 dreams per night, but unfortunately I feel like it is interuppting my sleep.

Usually when i wake up from a dream it is EXTREMELY rare for me to fall back asleep and begin that dream where I left off. However, that has been happeneing for the past two nights. Last night I woke up sooooo many times during each of the 3 dreams but always went back into that same dream until it was time for the next dream to start. It's not that the dreams are bothering me, though they haven't been pleasant, it's the fact that i feel like im waking up constantly through out the night and not sleeping soundly..what the hell? does anyone feel like their dreams disrupt their sleeping?? is it perhaps that i am simply not used to dreaming?

does anyone have any suggestions or insight

    thanks :)

last night i took 1 (half the prescribed dose for adults) tylenol PM sleepy time. i only took half because i have shit i needed to get done earlier today. i went to sleep nicely.

so in one of my dreams i ate bunk acid (idk why) anyway i'd wake up several times through out the dream and try look around my room, thinking that i was still dreaming and try to see if things in my room were morphing or not, continually hoping that the acid (from the dream) wasn't really bunk. Each time I realized I was awake my eyes were too heavy to open preventing me from actually look around my room...it was cool, but very frustrating...maybe i should take more next time...but at the same time, i am trying to go all natural for a few weeks so idk...someone recommended melatonin as it is natural in the body, but i don't know if i even want to do that or sleeping pills again...

    i just don't get this

it almost sounds like you've been getting lucid dreams, (retaining conciousness while sleeping) if thats the case, it would be a good thing

some of them feel like if i could hold on a bit longer i'd realize i was dreaming, but unfortunately that doesn't count. I always seem to wake up right as i gain some control or lose full control in the dreams.

i am still very confused why my dreaming is affecting my sleep it has almost been 2 weeks without smoking (with the exception of a waterfall on my friends birthday). I enjoy dreaming because it adds something, but is it normal for dreaming to wake you up consistently throughout the night???

When dreams get "intense" yes...it is very normal for them to wake you up. You're waking up during your REM cycles and you need those. Is there no external stimuli that might be waking you? I'm assuming it's internal, and yes it is "normal" but there's a many number of possible reasons. The issue is getting back to sleep....If you're not getting back to sleep then you have a "problem."

i guess i have no problem, because i usually fall back asleep pretty quickly...but its annoying. i enjoy the dreams, but i hate frequently waking up...maybe i just can't have my cake and eat it too? but it just sucks, i miss sound sleep.

    Do you not feel rested?

The more you wake up and go back the deeper you get into sleep, just relax and enjoy your self, see what happens after a while.

Oh by the way melatonin is for staying asleep, not putting you to sleep and it has been known to make people dream more vividly.

i do feel rested, but during this no smoking period i've been trying to get more sleep than i usually do. On average I wuold say im gettin 8-10 hrs, which is more than my body is used to, thus I do feel rested.
this is hard for me to believe, is it really true?

Drink lots and lots and lots of water. The same thing happens when you stop smoking tobacco. There's very lucid dreams aplenty. I never understood how some can actually sleep when they are high.

ya, it used to happen to me.
OMG don't take medicine for this! it's normal. its probably because of changes with the marijuana (you mentioned that you stopped smoking).
look up some herbal remedies. i know there are certain herbs that let you have a peaceful sleep (pot isn't one of them, from personal experience). i used to get crazy mad dreams on pot.
anyway, look this up online! im sure it can't be hard to find.

    ya, i know
i could never fall asleep until a solid 4 hours after smoking pot. and even then my dreams were usually very vivid or frightening, or I would have OBE's like mad.
