"Coldfooting"

  1. Going barefoot in winter.
    It's really amazong.
No, no---not venturing out over sheets of ice or seeking the "thrill" of frostbite...
But down to 40, 30, 20 or even 10 degrees, with a little practice...
The feeling (which is what barefooting is totally about) is---the best word---exhilirating. Also vivifying, enlivening, and maybe downright electric!
The same barefoot drill as in warm weather, but bundle up (relative to how cold it is) and try it! For me, it's the best kind of barefooting---just not a "hot weather friend."
Even in a light snow (no, not inches deep; this is for excitement, not danger), walking barefoot can be fun---OMG, those are MY footprints!

Wouldn't want to chance the frostbite. I'm too boring for this.

The sort of temperatures you describe are pretty much the norm in Britain, except for occasionally in winter where it gets cold enough for snow to settle, or about 4 weeks of the year summer where it gets really hot. I don't really notice it as anything other than barefooting when it's not snowy and it's not very warm. But yes, it is fun.
